Of the singles that haven't (yet) made a T75 appearance in 2009 :

1. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars 36.6k

2. Killers - Mr Brightside 31.8k

3 Bon Jovi - Living On A Prayer 26.8k

In case you're wondering, CC is around the low 90's in overall position.

Actually, Forgive Me shouldn't strictly feature in this topic, as it spent the first chart week of the year @ #68. *slaps wrist*

Alan Jones once stated that there were a handful of singles in the period 1978 to 1980 that sold over 100,000 copies without making the top 75, mainly because they weren't sold in chart return shops. Records include singles by Crass and Spizz Energi. There was also a song called "One Day At A Time" by Gloria (a cover version by Lena Martell reached number one in October 1979) which sold over 130,000 copies in the UK as an Irish import in 1978 and 1979 but which failed to make the chart - Alan Jones reported this in his weekly chart column for Record Mirror on 06/10/79.

I can't think of any other records that have sold as much without charting, mainly because these days the sales would be in chart return shops which they often weren't back then.

Really interesting! Where can you find figures so accurate? Do you do requests? :P Was wondering about About You Now by the babes, still gets a lot of airplay and i imagine its still selling steadily in the background? Cheers for any info (or any of their other singles)

The figures I list are calculated by the same spreadsheet I use for my YTD T40's.

IRO their accuracy, I can't be sure as I don't have the real figures to compare them against (if I did, I wouldn't need to estimate them)... :w00t:

When MW *has* published YTD total for selected items though, I find my numbers are usually within a couple of percent of theirs.

Yes, I'll respond to sales requests if I can.

As for 'About You Now', it hasn't been T200 all year, so I have no figures for it.

But given the average sale for a #200 is now around 1k, and there have been 15 sales weeks so far this year, its sales must necessarily be below 15k, probably significantly below that.
