April 24, 200916 yr I'm not sure yet, depends what time I get up because I'm in need of a lot of sleep :P I think its just luck to getting to the front. On the last tour at sheffield I que'ed from 11am and didnt get to the front. In birmingham last week I got there at 5.30 and got to the front!
April 25, 200916 yr No theres not many people here yet. I hate m.e.n tho i remember on last tour it was crazy getting in. God its difficult using bj on mobile internet lol
April 25, 200916 yr Author Back! This contains spoilers obviously so look away if you want things to remain a mystery. I'll start at the start: We had standing tickets and managed to get a place 8 or 9 rows of heads back from the catwalk, which is pretty close because everyone huddles together, so that was good, closer than I'd expected. The support act were Raygun, a five-piece indie-popish band who I'd probably compare to the Hoosiers if anybody, although that's a really crap comparison actually. They were really stylish and the lead singer had loads of charisma. I'm not usually into that sort of music but all of the songs were bloody catchy, especially Just Because and Can't Say No (I think that's its name?), so they were a nice surprise. They played until half 8 and P!nk came on at five past nine ish. When the lights went down a video intro began playing to AC/DC's Highway to Hell. P!nk wakes up, gets on a motorbike and drives to a dusty desert where a woman is playing violin and a clown is sad and slumped in the road. She and the clown dance and then the stage lights up; P!nk pops up out of a box as Bad Influence begins. She's wearing a glittery red catsuit. The crowd went absolutely wild for BI which was surprising, perhaps the support band had done a good job of livening people up. Everybody seemed to know the words to the chorus, same with Just Like A Pill. Then into Who Knew, which was brilliant, and then she had a chat with the crowd. She did Ave Mary A (where she hit some amazing notes) and closed the opening section with Don't Let Me Get Me, which isn't a big favourite of mine but was a proper crowd-pleaser and a lot of fun. Quick interlude before she reappared on stage. All dark except for a red sofa illuminated by a spotlight, with P!nk lay on her front. She goes into a whispery ballad version of I Touch Myself. The sofa has hand-sized holes in it and hands are poking through, stroking P!nk's hair, arms and crotch, which was delightful. Please Don't Leave Me next. At this point the lights have come back up and the band are on stage, and P!nk is in largely nude wearing minimal lace. PDLM is one of my favourites and she killed it live but strangely the audience weren't going that crazy for it... Then U&Ur Hand, which they DID go mad for, Leave Me Alone, which was a TOTAL triumph (I've gone right off the song after overplay a couple of years ago but it was phenomenol here) and So What, which I'm FIRMLY back into, again after overplay. Whilst she was off stage the guy on piano played a long, classical solo and when she re-appeared (in a white top and jeans) he began playing Family Portrait. She sounded absolutely incredible on FP, the most emotive she ever has. Acoustic I Don't Believe You next, which was lovely. Even though it was stripped-back the vocals were very slightly faster than on record and it definitely worked. Just as she was going into the chorus for the second time she stopped and said "Actually, I had a dream last night. Woody Harrelson and Mathew Mcconaughey were in it. It... wasn't good" and then laughed and carried on. The crowd were suckers for that! Talking of the crowd they weren't as awful as I'd expected, at all. Lots of lezzers but no fights or anything (I had been PROMISED fights) and easily the most up-for-it crowd I've ever been a part of. It really is so much better when the people around you are having a good time. Crystal Ball next, which was the same acoustic set-up. Going into the final chorus she got the note slightly wrong and said something like "ah, f*** it, I'm never gonna get that right". Trouble next which was FAB. I didn't know how it would work acoustically but it was SO MUCH FUN. She, her two backing vocalists and her guitarist moved their stools onto the catwalk to sing it, and it had a funky sort of bounce going on. The crowd got very into it. The Led Zep cover Babe I'm Gonna Leave You I could take or leave. When she came back on stage it was in a purple, one-armed glittery catsuit which completely exposed her left tit, which had a pink heart taped on it. :heehee: She did Sober and it was the absolute highlight of the show; she was fourty foot up in the air, and she and a male dancer were on a standing swing rocking back and to; it was VERY WOW. Then she jumped and he caught her ankles; she flipped herself up and he caught her wrists etc. It went on for the duration of the song and was just... a real visual treat. I wasn't looking forward to Bohemian Rhapsody but she nailed it; the girl turns everything to gold. Got the biggest crowd reaction too, everybody singing every word. Funhouse was a stompfest and I was REALLY surprised by her Gnarls Barkley cover, Crazy. I'm not a fan of that song but it was wonderful. Her backing singers sang the chorus on repeat whilst she went off stage to change. The encore began with Get The Party Started which was again brilliant; she did more acrobatics and still sang note-perfect. Then there was a two-minute countdown on the screens; the rest of the stage was in darkness. At the end she re-emerged to do Glitter In The Air, which had lots of glitter, obviously. Her dancers twirled down from the ceiling in a twisty robe sort of thing, disembarked, and P!nk got on. THEN, whilst still singing, she was dipped into a box on the catwalk and came out drenched in water. The twisty robe twirled her round so that water sprayed everywhere. VERY much suited the song somehow, and a really fitting finale. So yeah, I'd say it was the perfect gig. I'd thought beforehand that the setlist seemed poorly-ordered, and I still would've liked a couple more songs from I'm Not Dead (the title song and Cuz I Can) but I guess I should've gone to that tour. The tour IS very much the Funhouse tour; she does every song except One Foot Wrong (cut from the setlist, thank god), Mean (happy not to have) and It's All Your Fault, which I do love but which wasn't needed when she did Ave Mary A. Her vocals were flawless, she really does have the best voice in pop. Styling was wonderfully ridiculous, and there was always something going on in terms of the video screens or the stage. At one point I looked at the stage, having taken a couple of photos of her on the catwalk, and noticed that from somewhere two twenty-five foot DOLLS had popped up. It was a real show, which I always love in a gig, and it makes you wonder why anybody bothers shelling out £150 for Madonna who mimes her way through her two-hour show when P!nk puts in a million times more work and charges a quarter of that. Top 5 performances: 1. Sober 2. Trouble 3. Bad Influence 4. Crazy 5. Glitter In The Air I love Sober SO SO much. I can't imagine it ever getting old... anyway pics up tomorrow probably. 10/10.
