I guess we must be nearing a decision with the contest only a few weeks away now. I'd created this for the UK, but of course people can use this topic for any other country aswell really...

 

Who do people want on the juries of their (or any other) countries?

 

Recap of the rules regarding the jury members:

 

- Each jury must be made of 5 people (including one chair) who are music industry professionals.

- Their decisions will be based on the second dress rehersal, with the juries ranking the songs on the day of the dress rehersal. The jury should convene on the day of the Final

- Each jury member will rank his ten favourite songs and award points from 1-8, 10 and 12 points. These points will then be collated into a rank, giving 12 points from the jury to the song which has obtained the most points from the individual jurors etc-

- In the event of a tie for any positions, the order of the tying songs shall be ascertained by a show of hands by the jury members (abstinations are not allowed)

- The jury should contain a variety of members ranging in age, gender and background

- All jury members must be citizens of the country they are representing

- None of the jury members may be related to any of the participating artists or songs in a way that could affect their vote

- Jury and Televotes will count for 50% each, and the combined results announced by a spokesperson from the country

- The jury voting will be monitored by an auditor in each country

- The names of the jury members must be revealed by participating broadcasters before or during the final

 

 

So, bearing ALL that in mind, who would you like on the jury of your country?

I think i know who will be russian juries. I actually am almost 100% sure about at least half of them. :rolleyes:

Our famous producers, composers... Igor Krutoy or Maksim Fadeev for example.

Linda Martin (with her dire music taste) will definitely be on the Irish jury. Maybe Dana too. Both as bad as each other. :rolleyes:

 

 

I'd be surprised if Fearne Cotton isn't on our jury :heehee:

URGH. Here's betting John Barrowman (who will almost certainly vote for all the tack and have a hissy fit at all the ballads being in Eurovision :manson:), Fearne Cotton, Simon Cowell if he can get over his hatred for Eurovision and take it on an ego basis, Louis Walsh if not, Paul O'Grady, Graham Norton if it doesn't break any rules, and probably a member of Scooch or Steps or insert camp musical irrelevance here if it does :manson:

the UK jury votes will most likely be horrendous on that basis :heehee: 12 points to Germany!

Louis Walsh will probably be on the Irish jury, rather than the UK one.

 

I think John Barrowman's tour clashes with Eurovision....I specifically remember being overjoyed back in January when I realised that means he can't have anything to do with the contest :D

I'd be a bit surprised if Jessica Garlick isn't on ours to be honest - she's making her own little Eurovision comeback with performances at the Preview Party and her new single out soon.

I thought the juries were going to just be nameless nobodies in a room saying which song they liked and which they didn't. :P

 

Well for Ireland I'd want:

 

1. Dana

2. Samantha Mumba

3. Eimear Quinn

4. Nadine Coyle

5. Some guy from an Irish band that isn't Boyzone or Westlife.....like those new popular ones that are actually good.

 

I really hope they have a variety of different age groups in the jury with different tastes.

 

Just please no Linda Martin, I get the feeling she wouldn't know a great song if it smacked her upside the head. -_-

 

I personally think we need a complete revamp of who picks the songs that go into our national final.....and there should be more songs in a national final for better choice, perhaps 12 songs and it would be the length of the first live show of X factor. (similar format)

Everyone seems to have got it into their heads that the juries will all be well known personalities...I doubt that will be the case.
