If you browse through every PCD song or album you'd find either Nicole credited as a writer or a producer of their/her songs.

Where in other girls groups like The Saturdays, Girls Aloud or Sugababes (bar 1 album) - they are just mere singers.

Makes you wonder how PCD fit into the same category as GA or The Sats when PCD have such credible and talented members!

Nicole does stand out head above heels from the rest, but the other girls are extremely good performers and dancers - they're even involved in the directing of their own music videos. Their debut album was ranked in plenty of professional reviewers top 20 of the decade. The list really does go on.

Yeah, I don't think having writing or producing credits makes you credible. I would actually say, in this country at least, both Sugababes and Girls Aloud are seen as much more credible than the Pussycat Dolls, who are largely seen as Nicole with a load of dancers, whether the dancers choreograph/write/invent a cure for the common cold or not.

I'd say Sugababes are far more credible too and I'm a huge fan of PCD LOL.

Still, I do understand where you're coming from.

Oh whatever, a little songwriting hardly makes you more credible than a girlgroup that dont/cant. All 4 girlgroups are pretty equal IMO though i guess Girls Aloud & Sugababes have been around longer which boosts them up a bit.

Well I bet you that The Sats or GA won't be able to write, produce and perform songs to the great extent PCD can which does in fact make them much more credible because they are living talent and not just another money-making business idea. If GA or The Sats were involved in the music they put out I'd have a different opinion to this but talent is what gives you credibility not how long you've been around, how much you've sold etc.

PCD have been around as long as GA has anyway and have outsold them globaly by leaps and bounds

The Saturdays have only had 1 album, you never know - now there more confident in the music industry they may start writing there own stuff.

Although GA don't/can't write there own songs, why should they? There very sucessful and would be silly to change what they do.

I do love all 4 of these girlbands though.

They are soooo NOT credible. As much as i enjoy pcd, they're basically one really annoying and insufferable byotch and 4 glorified strippers behind her.

The fact that Nicole (NOT all of them) co writes some of their songs doesn't really help out. And she doesn't even write that many of the songs... wasn't it like 3 or 4 songs from doll domination that Nicole co wrote? and 2 from PCD??

 

All they are IS a money making business idea. They're Robin Antin's creation. She controls every aspect of their career. They're a BRAND for f***s sake...

Aren't they just salaried employees of the label as opposed to actually having and actual record deal with the group. They have a set salary and dont get anything from album sales, concerts etc. That all goes to the label and Robin..,

I never knew about this about there salary? is that quite common for artists, i have never heard the likes!! So how much would you say they get annually?

I don't know how much they get annually but I assume it's a set amount as they are considered salary employees. I don't know all the details but I think the PCD record deal is with the brand/robin. The girls aren't hired or paid as the pussycat dolls they're paid individually. Nicole's deal is different though because she forced Jimmy iovine to give her a solo deal in addition to the same type of deal the other girls have. That imo gives them less credibility because Nicole had a solo deal from day one, its obvious she only considered PCD a launching pad for her own solo career, however since that failed miserably she did another album with PCD.

 

I've actually heard that in some ways the fact that they're salaried employees works better for them moneywise, but I'm not sure how much they actually make.

I love the way Keri Hilson recently said that she thought the Dolls were holding back Nicole because Nicole was "FORCED" to shelve her album because she was again forced to go back and do another album with the Pussycat Dolls. Nothing to do with the complete lack of interest despite the multiple singles she sent to radio, which no one would touch with a barge pole.

It's been revealed by quite a few radio stations that the reason they didn't play/people didn't request Nicole songs is because the DJ's/audience had difficulty pronouncing her name.

And to save themselves the embarrassment of pronouncing it wrong, they just chose to ignore it and played/requested something else.

I know that sounds lame, but think about it. It is a bit of a tongue twister and some people might end up saying "Scherzniger" and that wouldn't be good to say live on radio!

Hmmm I don't really know if I believe that. :P Maybe the reason for a few stations, but not them all. :lol: Plus, regardless of radio being able to pronounce her name she would have sold if people thought the material was good and just look how that ended up...
