Posted April 23, 200916 yr Great album recently released by the 2005 Swedish Idols contestant...he is also famous for winning the Reality show 'Let's Dance' in Sweden and of course, his failures in Melodifestivalen, in 2007 with the brilliant Cara Mia and this year with the excellent Hope & Glory...his new album is a bit of a mish mash of styles but I'd definitely recommend it, although you might find yourself playing the 'wow this really sounds like that' game throughout :P 01. Hope & Glory <> sounds a bit like: Hero by Charlotte Perrelli 02. One Minute More <> sounds a bit like: Changes by 2Pac 03. Freak Out <> sounds a bit like: Breakaway by Janet Leon 04. Impossible <> sounds a bit like: Apologize by Timbaland feat OneRepublic 05. Find Love <> sounds a bit like: Closer by Ne-Yo 06. Rewind <> sounds a bit like: Summertime Of Our Lives by A1 07. Forever <> sounds a bit like: All I Ever Wanted by Basshunter 08. Saved Again <> sounds a bit like: the theme tune to Wizadora :heehee: 09. Home <> sounds a bit like: Black & Gold by Sam Sparro 10. A Stranger Saved My Life <> sounds a bit like: Dans Le Jardin De Mon Ame by Francine Jordi 11. Whole New World <> sounds a bit like: Michael Buble 12. Hold On <> sounds a bit like: Kick Back by Masai one of the more pleasant surprises of the year for me, I expected it to be bland/samey and it most definitely isn't ^_^
May 2, 200916 yr Author bump because this album deserves SOME response, it's fantastic one thing I forgot to add becuase I didn't have the physical copy when I wrote this thread; there is a rather hilarious video on the Enhanced CD version of the album, which starts with Mans singing a French song before launching into a cover of Robbie & Kylie's Kids, complete with a rather superb impression of Robbie's Northern English accent  I never thought I'd hear a Swede impersonate a Northerner!!!
May 2, 200916 yr Don't think I want to hear the impression. :P I think this is a good album but just not something that strikes you, as you said it is quite copycat. Freak Out and Home are my favourites after Hope & Glory.
May 4, 200916 yr Hope and Glory is just... He's so hawt too. But I prefered his last album. This one is Great, just too balady I suppose. his last was FANTASTIC. First album to ever get 4+ Stars from me.
February 21, 201114 yr I've just acquired this. It's turning out to be a pretty good album. Probably going to end up going on a buying spree and getting both his albums and Eric Saade's debut
February 21, 201114 yr Måns is so much better of a popstar than rubbish old Eric Saade that it's not even funny...
February 21, 201114 yr Author Måns is so much better of a popstar than rubbish old Eric Saade that it's not even funny... I agree. I also prefer Darin, Ola and Danny (especially as part of EMD) to Eric Saade in the Swedish male pop singer stakes... I haven't listened to MZW in a good year and a half but perhaps it's time to dig it back out in light of being reminded of my review of it
February 21, 201114 yr Both of Måns' albums are properly brilliant. Eric had some great tracks, but some god awful ones on his debut. Måns is far better at ballads i think.

I can't really remember Eric's debut too well. I remember the standouts - i.e. the singles and It's Gonna Rain, plus something about Fashion, but everything else I've long forgotten, and it's only a few months old  I just remember it being more filler heavy than the Swedish male pop albums tend to be usually. Ola and Darin's 2010 albums on the other hand were gems. And I would sing the praises once again of EMD's 90's covers album Rewind, which came out two months ago, but I really think I'm likely to be its only fan
February 21, 201114 yr I can't stand Darin. I think i have been converted to a Måns loon tonight. These are probably the strongest duo of albums i've heard since AWDF/3/TIMW

These are probably the strongest duo of albums i've heard since AWDF/3/TIMW That's rather sensationally high praise. They're great albums but I wouldn't put them anywhere near my Delta/Corrs heights. I know you hate Darin so I won't recommend his album to you but have a search for Ola's album from last year (self titled). Uptempo Scandi-pop with a few decent ballads for good measure. For me at least, it's as strong as the Mans' albums.

I might have to look out Ola, although iirc i didn't think much of the song i heard in relation to BJSC

Or do you just mean that the quality was consistently high on both? Ola has many great songs, youtube these or at least some of them before downloading the album (in order of importance imo): Natalie, Love In Stereo, SOS, Unstoppable (The Return Of Natalie), Feel Good, All Over The World and my highlight album track of his, Y.T.G.
February 21, 201114 yr Oh god, reading this thread reminds I still have Ola's album to listen to which I downloaded like 2 weeks ago thanks to me loving All Over The World! And I've still yet to download Darin's album, despite me loving Lovekiller for over a year now! If I like these two albums, I'll deffo give Måns' albums ago too! Didn't he do a duet with Maria Haukaas-Storeng? I think it was him anyway, that song was pretty good!

Lessons To Be Learned is well into my top10, but i would say both of Mans' albums are better than Ten. And i love Ten. I will give them a go. February 22, 201114 yr Sensational praise indeed! I wouldn't go that far but Måns is an appealling popstar with fairly filler-free albums and some really GREAT melodies. Eric is so horribly cheesy. Darin doesn't do it for me. Ola is the worst though. So trashy... I don't even know how I know about all of these Swedish male popstars! I barely know of any Swedish female popstars!
February 22, 201114 yr There really is a distinct lack of filler. They are complete brilliance. As for Swedish females, it's all about Agnes and September.
February 22, 201114 yr Author ...but for other consistently good current pop females (so not counting the aging Schlager divas) there are indeed September, Agnes and I'd argue Sanna Nielsen, although she really only comes out of hibernation for Melodifestivalen. For pure Swedish pop, the males are better at consistently delivering. Tove Styrke could be one to watch, and she's showing great early potential.
