April 24, 200916 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 24.04 So last week we saw a flood of new entries in the top 30 but the latest chart has its highest debut this time at #22. That leaves us to Lady Gaga who stands firm at the #1 position for a seventh week. Not only that but her previous single "Just Dance" jumps 20-11 to prove that Germans wants more and more of their Gaga. "Just Dance" is not the only old single which inexplicably goes up this week as Razorlight's "Wire To Wire", James & Nelly's "Broken Strings" and Polarkreis' "Allein Allein" also jump towards the top instead of just go out of the chart... Perhaps the most important thing in the top 10 is the small decline of Depeche Mode's "Wrong". The guys songs may be extremely popular in Germany but have the tendency to plunge considerably after their debut week, so it is somewhat a surprise that "Wrong" falls only four places. The highest new entry comes from Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat and their duet "Lucky" at #22. Both singers have one major hit in Germany so far with "I'm Yours" and "Bubbly" respectively, which were followed by massive flops. At least "Lucky" does them a favour and perhaps they will be not remembered as one-hit wonders. Next at #32 and #33 we see German rapper Fler and US r&b star Akon entering the chart with their latest, and may I say, not quite memorable singles. Perhaps the formula for making German soft hip-hop songs featuring female vocals is starting to fade now. As for Akon, I think he is much overrated as a solo artist. It would be interesting also to see whether this year's German Eurovision entry by Alex Swings Oscar Sings will be able to recover from this week's #42-#27 fall during the weeks approaching the contest. As long as the albums chart is concerned, the amazing Silbermond manage to return to the top after being replaced their by Andrea Berg. The biggest new entry belongs to Austrian Christina Stuermer at #6. She has a #1 album with "Lebe lauter" in 2006. Edited April 24, 200916 yr by YanBG
