How on Earth do they come up with their prices? Do they have a specific price list, or do they just do as they deem necessary? =/.

I'm basically only on about HMV as that's now the only decent place to get DVDs since Zavvi's shut down. They're bizarre. So, a simple, one disc Blair Witch Project would've cost me £10 (when previously it'd been £5), yet I can get all three released Fast & Furious films, in a nice, sexy steel case for merel £9? =/.

Call me a square from the past, but it confuses me.

Ditto that. All 3 X Men films for 10 quid, is crazy to me. Same for CD's ... things like Furtado's 'Loose' was 15.99 the other day, when other higher/equally charting and selling CD's from the same year were about a fiver :|

I went to go and buy Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare once, and saw it was £22 quid in HMV, for real!! No special bonus disk/live dvd/the making of/import or whatever, it genuinely was just a normal album for 22 quid

You're better off just buying stuff from Amazon, or downloading it of a torrent site, but you've got to be careful now as they're really cracking down on them.

It's all to do with stock - if they've a lot to get rid of then it's cheaper. This is why, irritatingly, "bargain bin" records tend to be ex-chart successes now as the stores may have ordered more than they bargained for. They'll happily have relative rarities sit at £15+

You've also got loss leaders...etc. It's all about marketing.
