I'm getting this strong urge recently that I want to make and enter a song to Irelands national final next year........even though I don't know the first thing about making a song.

Anyone else ever get a tune in your head and think it would be better than most songs in your countries national final?

I have this song in my head at the moment,

It's called "System Overload" and it deals with a girl who's completly falling apart because of what's going on in her life and this song is kinda like her telling us her emotions and what she thinks of herself but also telling herself it won't last forever and things will look up someday

As for on Stage, I Imagine Blue lighting, A girl wearing a blue suit with a blue mini dress (and maybe a blue hat like the mafia like to wear) and she plays a huge harp somewhere in the middle of the song (have to get the irishness in thier somewhere :P)

Also The singer would make errotic movements like a robot and really convey that she's an absolute mess. But it has to be kind of sexy aswell.......but vunerable too.......hmm

Although I'm thinking Blue everywhere is going to make some kind of faux pas so maybe add some white in thier too somewhere :P

What do you think of this idea? Good or bad?

I'm thinking up so lyrics now at the moment but it's kinda hard since eurovision is really close, lyrics of songs in this years eurovision keep popping into my head :P

Somewhat like that but the blue lighting would cast a blue shadow over the singer.........maybe only at some points though......have to figure that out.

I was wondering though......do I actually have to find someone to sing it or just send the song in? It's not like I could just put an ad in the local newspaper saying "Woman to sing for eurovision wanted" :P

and Cal......are from Ireland or Ukraine? I could have sworn you had an Irish flag the other day......

I think you'd need to find a good singer who isn't with any record label. Record labels would try and get a slice of the action if they were involved, so I'd avoid them. There are tons of independent singers out there looking for a good chance of becoming known, so I guess it would be up to you to search for them, be it through Myspace or scouting at local gigs.

BUT, if it's an internal selection like Dervish or Brian Kennedy, then I think you just send your song in and hope the act can do a good job with it. :)

(And I'm from Ireland, I just had a wave of Ukrainian love, hence the Ukraine flag :kink:)

Thanks, I'm really getting a strong urge to do something like this but I'm kinda afraid of things going wrong and everything.

How do you actually go about finding singers on myspace? I've looked a few times but I don't find anything.....

You can go here. Just make sure the location is set to "Ireland" and genre to "Any genre" to give you the best options. From there you'll have loads of artists with a music page. I think they're ranked by daily popularity, so the deeper you go, the more unknown they are. :)

I've always wanted to enter a song in Eurovision, probably not sing it myself though! I write lyrics all the time, and can write melodies in my head, but I really need someone to help me crack open my head and let people here them - can anyone help me do that? :kink:

Some of my working titles for Euro-songs are Kaleidoscope, I'm Only A Man, Sakura, Come As You Are...

Looks like we're all in the same position :( Maybe if we all got together, we could come up with something :kink:

My song for eurovision is shaping up! Now not only is there going to be Harp.........but it will be an electric Harp! :w00t:

The worse thing is I'm not very good at coming up with melodies or Rhythms........I can get lucky and I'll get some music in my head but otherwise I can't really think them up.
