British girl group SUGABABES will begin their assault on the U.S. pop charts with the help of rap mogul JAY-Z after signing a deal with his record label.

The Round Round hitmakers, comprising of Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah, have achieved major success in the U.K. and Europe, but have yet to break into the American market.

However, the trio hopes to establish a name for themselves with the help of Jay-Z after signing with his Roc-A-Fella Records, reports DigitalSpy.com.

The band flew out to Los Angeles on Monday (27Apr09) to work with the producers behind Beyonce and Rihanna's hit songs. The tracks will feature on the follow up to their latest disc Catfights and Spotlights, and will be released Stateside on Roc-A-Fella, while the girls will remain signed to Island Records in the U.K.

Oooooh.

If it is anyway different to the uk disc thats more tracks for us :D

But i hope they keep it just the same

yeh i hope they don't do a Natasha Bedingfield.

But if they do release a slightly different version in the US there will probs be 2 editions here 1 normal and 1 deluxe with all the extra US tracks on. I that would mean extra sales from me.

Fabulous news. They've always deserved a chance to crack America, and with material from US producers like RedOne this is likely to be as good a time as any. :D
Perfect timing, there's no big girlbands in the US atm. Sugas can fill that void! :D
I think that Island has basically let Roc-A-Fella do this album, I couldn't see Island splashing the cash for RedOne.
Yeah, but I also think that Jay Z is working with them
well done Metamorphosis in getting them out there and not stuck in an Island shoe cupboard assumably recording with whoever used to be cool or is currently going cheap
Yeah, but I also think that Jay Z is working with them

Roc-A-Fella is Jay-Z

We've only had RedOne so far, so we'll wait and see who's next but i can see there being some Jay-Z on the album.

And i can see Roc-A-Fella handling everything to do with this record and Island just keeping distribution rights for the RotW and a goo chunk of the profits.

TBH, i think Jay-Z approached our girls and the management managed to cut a deal between Jay-Z and Island.

So Island can promote them in the UK/EU/Aus as usual [ie a bit for single one, very little, none at all] and outsource the album production.

RedOne would not be working with our girls if they were still on island. 1] They wouldn't put out the cash for a producer of RedOne's standards, 2] I think RedOne wanting to work with them has a lot to do with Jay-Z. Signing to Roc-A-Fella has got to have made more than a small splash in the Industry.

Sugababes for world domination psthx

[GaGa took over Rihanna, and someone has got to let GaGa record a new album  ]

I was desperate for the babes to work with RedOne but I thought it was an unrealistic dream. Now it's true I feel like I'm going to faint.

Also, with the break-up of Danity Kane, America is really lacking a girlband. Plus 2009 appears to be the year of the females.

Yep I'm so excited that they worked with RedOne! I felt it was quite an unrealistic thing, especially after the disappointing sales of C&S but then it happened!

I'm loving Lady Gaga material and I love Sugababes so a mix of RedOne + Sugas = Heaven!

Can't wait to have a first listen to their new sound. I also think they will work with Jay-Z. It's gonna be a big album!

So Catfights & Spotlights is going to be released here in the US then?

Oh, and I keep hearing 'Girls' during a Payless Shoes commercial daily while watching Desperate Housewives on Lifetime (on syndication). :heehee:

Hopefully not, it'll no doubt be album #7 that'll hit the US.

Prob's with an adapted tracklist to include AYN, HITH and maybe one or two older tracks.

[They did release HITH after all, i reckon they'd at least include it as a bonus as they never did release an album stateside]

Nah, as much as I'd like them to include HITH (amelle mix YAY) I can't see them doing it. It will be like a fresh start for them with those big US names!
With these big names involved we could be looking at our girls first Million seller, now wouldn't that shut the haters right up.
especially if it goes passed a mill within the era instead of 3 years after.
