Posted April 30, 200916 yr ...am i the only one who is now sick to death of this track? it was a decent enough pop song but its lost its retro appeal now its in the public domain today. bloody crap film
April 30, 200916 yr I could never, ever be sick of it. I'm not going to say that the film is like The Godfather or something, but ABBA will never die. Actually, can we have an ABBA forum? We have The Beatles...
April 30, 200916 yr Author I could never, ever be sick of it. I'm not going to say that the film is like The Godfather or something, but ABBA will never die. Actually, can we have an ABBA forum? We have The Beatles... ..... im not knocking abba per se, id never do that! just that wretched song thanks to that wretched film.
April 30, 200916 yr I know what you mean, but personally I still love it, though out of preference, I'll listen to the Spanish version. (Ditto I Have A Dream.) I could be picky about your spelling but I won't :P

April 30, 200916 yr I've not seen (and have no intention of seeing) the film, so it won't spoil it for me :D
April 30, 200916 yr ...its quite bizarre, that someone with my obvious intelect cant bloody spell! Intellect has 2 L's :w00t: Why do I find that so funny  I know what you mean about Mama Mia, great song(played to death in recent years), poor film
April 30, 200916 yr Intellect has 2 L's :w00t: Why do I find that so funny  I did too, but I mustered up the restraint not to say anything :P ...until you made me reply...
May 1, 200916 yr ...am i the only one who is now sick to death of this track? it was a decent enough pop song but its lost its retro appeal now its in the public domain today. bloody crap film  Nope, you're not the only one, and indeed I am somewhat sick to the back teeth of hearing about that wretched film.... I've not even bothered watching it, but I just know that I'm pretty much gonna be 100% hostile to some "film" with a threadbare plot and a bunch of sodding LUVVIES doing Karaoke Abba..... Benny and Bjorn may have made a lot of money out of it, fair dos to them, but they've royally pished on their musical legacy... Still, it's their's to pish on if they so choose I suppose, but there's no way any serious music fan's ever gonna listen to Abba records ever again without having images of Meryl fukkin' Streep warbling away.....
May 1, 200916 yr Author I did too, but I mustered up the restraint not to say anything :P ...until you made me reply... m8... you can take the p*** all you want! its ok! i knew it looked wrong but left it..... honest! Nope, you're not the only one, and indeed I am somewhat sick to the back teeth of hearing about that wretched film.... May 7, 200916 yr So not and never will be sick of it. And proud to have indoctrinated my children into loving ABBA.
May 8, 200916 yr Author So not and never will be sick of it. And proud to have indoctrinated my children into loving ABBA. nowt wrong with promoting abba, but they are far better then mama mia and dancing queen
May 8, 200916 yr Author I repeat: :P never liked it...even back then when i was 19. it annoys me, it annoys me even more now that it has become 'public property', a standard pop song that everyone knows. like 'ymca', 'i will survive' which belong in retro memories, i dont want to associate those tracks with 2009. now 'mama mia' has joined them retro songs belong in the past, where they can be fondly remembered and not overplayed. 'fraid im with john peel, new songs for new years. abba did far superior music though to 'dancing queen', 'mama mia' , 'fernando' .... in fact most of their singles were superior. but the best track imho was 'the eagle'. May 8, 200916 yr Have to agree with Rob here. Not only is DQ badly overplayed, it is their worst single and I think it is a bit of a clunky tune. Eagle is superb and Knowing Me Knowing You and The Winner Takes It All knock it into a tin hat.
May 8, 200916 yr The film is a travesty that was superbly sent up by French & Saunders at Comic Relief 2009. As for Abba as I've said before to me they are a quite Schizophrenic band, their best known tracks (with the exception of Knowing Me Knowing You, S.O.S. & The Winner Takes It All)are amongst their worst. Yet some of their lesser known tracks are musical gems. Eagle is probably my favourite album Abba track outside of their final album The Visitors & the accompanying singles when their music got rather dark and less commercial: 0qrcYlne6VQ Like An Angel Passing Through My Room ozt_n9tcYlA Cassandra & of course their best song IMHO was the last thing Abba ever recorded: j8ODbXWav1I The Day Before You Came Like Queen & their ghastly musical, along with the Satan of music Simon Cowell rating Abba & Queen above the Beatles in terms of songs & music, that has a negative impact on my opinion of them as a Musical Act today.
May 9, 200916 yr You hate Dancing Queen? :o Why? Simple - it's ABBA's most crass, naff, boring and obvious single ever. As for Mama Mia - it's a close second.... and the film? Jeeeesus.... it just goes to show how utterly simple Joe Public is that they can pay money to see a selection of ABBA's (worst) songs given a karaoke makeover by actors who really should know better (perhaps Julie Walters had received a hefty tax bill or summat... can't think of a single other reason she'd lower herself to this tripe). ABBA were fantastic songwriters who made perfect pop songs - but..... their finest material was when their personal worlds were falling to pieces - The Winner Takes It All, The Visitors, The Day Before You Came..... out of the early singles, the only true classics were S.O.S. and Knowing Me Knowing You. there were plenty of other incredible songs - but Mama Mia and Dancing Queen are ABSOLUTELY not 2 of them. These 2 songs are the ones cited by people who a) don't know any other ABBA stuff bar the 'Gold' album b ) are pissed up on a hen-night... with vibrators stuck in their ears.
May 9, 200916 yr Author ....of the singles 'the name of the game' is my fav, the lyrics fit the mood and emotion behind the track.
