By far the biggest demographic listening to LG is late teens, early 20s, students, fans of underground electronic, 80s stuff, etc, she's def after a more adult demographic... It's NOT the Sats/PCD/GA audience she's going for, god, are you really that dense mate that you cant tell the difference between what the two are doing...?

She might be targetting that market, but you can't deny that children follow her music and career? She's got two singles that have sold over 500,000 copies this year, the top two sellers, so she's arguably the biggest star of the year so far. I think it's fair to say children are listening to her music whether she's trying to appealing to the late teens/early 20s market or not.

Anyway, I'm sure you're aware that she supported PCD on the UK dates of their tour so if that's not 'going for that audience', I don't know what is.

Personally this topic seems like it was created for some excitement to fill some time on Bank Holiday Monday and, well, that's gone now. I would have thought this topic would follow it and into the Saturdays forum.

Ga Ga aint marketing herself at young teens mate.... Most of 'em wouldn't understand the sarcasm or irony in the lyrics anyway, or really fully appreciate her turn of phrase, you have to be a bit OLDER than 14 or 15 and lived a bit to really 'get' it, know what I mean.. You're completely blinded to reality aren't you? You genuinely think that because you like Lady GaGa - you, who usually doesn't go for such pure pop - that she must only appeal to those with a well-developed taste, kids of the 80s, fans of 'underground electronic'. Come on! As if Lady GaGa appeals to fans of underground electronic! The woman makes music which as poppy as it comes! The RedOne sound is the new Timbaland sound, the new in thing. If you really think Just Dance has sold however much it has - over 500,000, 600,000 - by appealing only to those groups of people, you're seriously delluded. No song becomes the biggest-seller of the year by not appealling to young children.

The whole 'getting' her art has become irrelevant in the context of this newly-introduced argument - which is that kids see sexual behaviour and imitate it. Well as I said, art or not, GaGa is one of the primary boundary-pushers when it comes to wearing as few a clothes as possible, so it's maddeningly ridiculous to criticise the Saturdays for that and then go on to say Lady GaGa is not guilty of the same. Absolutely mad, and you can tell me I don't 'get' it as much as you like, but I'm firmly in the right.

i think how people like mushymanrob and grimlyfriendish only quote little bits of peoples posts 'cause they know they rest is absolutely correct.

Oh god, here we go again.

Not for long, if you did your research you know they're writing bucket loads for the follow up to 'Chasing Lights' which im sorry, but contains far more 'hits' than Lady GaGa's effort.

If the hype around The Saturdays was the same as it was for Lady GaGa and they walked around streets calling up the paps and posing in underwear holding teacups and being all 'quirky' i believe 'Up', 'Issues' and 'Just Cant Get Enough' would of been number 1's.

The song is sexy, their performance of it on Ant and Dec showed this side and they're going through with that for the video. Leave the bloody girls alone for once. You're blatently just bitter because you never thought they'd be around 1 month nevermind 1 year, get over it.

oh lord, who let the children out?

ill converse with jark and aaron as although we dont agree they are mature enough to put across their points in an adult manner (well, at least when jark wants to! lol).

i dont see junior school girls copying a lady gaga dance routine, i DO see them copying the saturdays. 'up' is far more popular with pre-teens then lady gaga.

however ..... im not keen on gaga either parading around like that, but the topic is the saturdays and their new image that was predicted by me.

i started this topic when i saw on ds the news that they were challenging gaga to 'war' by looking 'raunchy'. as i predicted this would happen last year IF they were not being as successful as they need to be (to remain in business), it was appropriate to start a topic on them. this wasnt suitable for the sats forum as criticism wouldnt have been allowed.

But, really, being 'raunchy' isn't just a GaGa thing and they aren't the first of our girl groups to be jumping on the GaGa bandwagon, in fact they're probably the last. Girls Aloud ripped her image in the "Untouchable" video and the Sugababes have been in the studio with the man behind a lot of GaGa's tracks. (RedOne)

When I hear of the Saturdays' plans to work with RedOne, Martin Kierszenbaum, Akon etc. or when they start dressing in leotards/hooded cloaks/crystal sunglasses I'll say they're trying to steal her thunder. Wearing next to nothing isn't a GaGa-specific thing and they already started doing that in the "Just Can't Get Enough" video.

I reckon they have been successful enough to remain in business anyway. "Up" and "Issues" sold over 200k each and the album must be on about 250k by now. Depending on whether record companies actually get anything from chairty singles, they sold over 200k of "Just Can't Get Enough" as well. I'd say, along with the debut single and any ticket sales, they will have got close to making the supposed £400k back by now.

They haven't yet had a #1, though I'd rather have a #2 with the chart run 2-3-4-14-20-27-39-55-54, and still be charting, than the other Comic Relief single that went 1-3-23-51-OUT this year. But I think they have a good chance of coming back with one if they don't leave it too long to get the second album out. I'm not particularly excited but the Saturdays but, for a girl group, they've had a fairly successful debut considering they aren't particularly different or special. They haven't exactly done a Hepburn, Girl Thing, Frank, Clea, The 411, Cookie etc. they're definitely considered one of the other girl groups, rather than a bunch of faliures.

Perhaps it's time to give Girls Can't Catch (a name rejected by the Saturdays) a hard time as, like it or not, this lot will likely be flaunting their bodies around to sell for a while yet. As for criticism not being allowed in their forum, why not? As long as you're constructive, I'm sure it'd be allowed. If not, make a complaint.

I see so many claims that The Saturdays copycats of god only knows what acts - Gaga, GA, who else? It's so strange, haven't anyone noticed, that everybody actually copy each other's dance moves, promo strategy, even lyrics and production of a song tend to be so similar, you need a time to realize who you're listening to at the moment. But it doesn't seem to bother music makers. If it were a problem, they would solve all this themselves. I don't think it's plagiarism, it's just how things always were. But I'm afraid, to stop people say that Mollie 'copies' Lady Gaga she'll just will have to change her hair color xD

As for Lady Gaga, I never cared of her music much until I heard a few acoustics versions of her songs on youtube. I was impressed. But I still can't understand why she makes such an ugly and pompous live shows. It's like some pretenstious attempt to copy early Madonna style, which brings us back to the quiet agreement between all the labels.

I think artist will do anything now just to draw crowd's attention, because people now are too satiated with all the shows they're offered. Just rememner Robbie Williams "Rock DJ" clip xD It's the kind of reason why I don't really like massive live performances.
