i loved paula's old stuff and there are many great tracks on her greatest hits so i'm looking forward to hearing this

According to some sources, none particularly official, it's a song called "Boombox" that Kylie recorded for her 2003 album "Body Language", but it didn't make the final cut.

I presume so, though of course the track "Boombox" from the album "Boombox" was a remix by LA Riots. No idea what the original was supposed to sound like.

Performance was lip synched, surprising for a JUDGE on American Idol. And a cheesy little line at the end from Paula which made me cringe.

That's one of my favourite unreleased Kylie tracks (i reckon it's better than most of the stuff that ended up on Body Language!) but it's six/seven years old and tbh it sounds it. Paula hasn't updated it at all, just autotuned and computerized her vocals so much it doesn't sound like her at all. I like Paula but that American Idol performance was cringeworthy. I dread to think what she's done to Boombox :lol:

I mean, sorry, but should a JUDGE of a talent show really be using the programme that she's a sitting judge on to promote her own comeback career....? The phrase "conflict of interest" springs to mind....

I have to assume this is just some for-fun side project that she's embarking on. I doubt she'd be silly enough to think that it was going to get her any success. Her fans are loving the song :heehee: Personally I struggle to listen to something that vocoded.

Sure, I listen to and go to gigs by Industrial/Cyber acts who put the vocals through distortion and effects pedals (in the same manner a guitarist would), BUT, the vocalist is still performing the vocals live (it just sounds fukked-up and mental :lol: ), as opposed to it being all post-produced studio trickery.... You couldn't really do what she does in a live gig setting, as has been proven by the fact that several posters have said her "performance" was lip-synched...

 

Well, it's autotuned. But it's not a great song by any means. If it's a hit, I REALLY question the American music industry (although it would be nice to have some bordering-on-dance musc in the charts). By the way, am I the one who totally can't understand when people sing through vocoders? :blink: As an old-school electro fan it's a problem...
