So even German superstar Mark Medlock cannot stop Lady (boring already) Gaga from spending a ninth week at the top of the German charts. With his latest single, the summer-flavoured "Mamacita", Mark proves so far to be the most successful winner of the German version of Music Idol (DSDS). And to repeat myself, he is the Will Young of the German music ;). "Mamacita" for now falls short of the number one, entering at #2, which is not bad at all having in mind he has three number ones, out of only five singles. In the "Mamacita" vocals you can once again hear the voice of his mentor, the one and only Dieter Bohlen of Modern Talking fame.

The best new entry of the week for me however comes in at #18, with the follow-up of one of the German hits from this winter "Eisblumen" from the band with the same name. I doubt that "Leben ist schoen" will have the same impact as the previous single, which stayed in the top 10 for months, but it's a wonderful song nevertheless with quite a catchy chorus.

And for another week I should mention the slow movement of Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, whose "Wrong" and "Love etc" can really be considered hits in Germany, unlike UK for example.

Speaking of UK, at #23 and #29, we find two big hits there entering now also the German charts. Having in mind the success of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and Pussycat Dolls ' "Jai Ho!" elsewhere in Europe, it is somewhat surprising to see the songs outside the top 10. Of course the dolls have had their hits in Germany, disregarding the fact that "Jai Ho!" is better than almost all of them, but "Love Story" is Taylor's first single to enter the German Top 100 so far, which does not bode well for the future career of the country star there...

Unfortunetely, Alesha Dixon's amazing "The Boy Does Nothing" also charts outside the top 20, which, when looking at the months-old songs there, is a real shame.

Next week we could see Eminem making a high debut and also Ciara With Justin is out with Love Sex Magic.
