Posted May 10, 200916 yr ok not sure if you guys have heard about this but I got it in my google reader :cheer: Christina Aguilera Cast in Burlesque from /Film by orfilms@gmail.com (slashfilm.com) Christina Aguilera has signed on to make her live-action big screen debut in Steven Antin’s contemporary musical Burlesque for Screen Gems. Antin wrote the script, which was later revised by Erin Brockovich scribe Susannah Grant. No mention is made of Diablo Cody’s screenplay involvement in the Variety story, which makes me wonder if any of her contributions have made it to the final draft. Aguilera will play “an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice” who tries to escape a hollow past by performing in a neo-burlesque club in Los Angeles. The film hopes to be Moulin Rouge meets Cabaret, with established songs that will be updated and worked into dance numbers. Antin has described neo-burlesque as “a contemporary take on the traditional burlesque that derived from vaudeville, with singing, dancing, comedy and more tease than striptease.” Antin’s sister Robin created the burlesque troupe The Pussycat Dolls in 1995. Burlesque is aiming to begin production in January 2010.

December 9, 201014 yr Do the producers of this film even vaguely understand what "Burlesque" actually is about...? It's basically a more subtle form of striptease... Christina Aguillera starring in this film is a fukkin' joke in itself, especially when you have someone like Dita Von Teese out there who is an ACTUAL Burlesque performer and has a sufficiently high profile to carry a film such as this... The second joke is Christina's absolutely fukkin' VILE "cover" (if you want to call it that) of Marilyn Manson's classic "Beautiful People".... OK, Manson might deserve to have one of his songs brutalised after what he did to Soft Cell and Depeche Mode, but still, why "Beautiful People"?? It doesn't even have a link to the film or to "burlesque" itself... Manson's "ode" to Burlesque and the Weimar-era was "Golden Age Of Grotesque" album, which doesn't actually have "Beautiful People" on it.....
