Irv Gotti has revealed that he is "going to drop" Ashanti from his record label.

The Inc. Records executive reportedly believes that his professional pairing with the R&B star has come to a natural end.

Gotti told MTV: "Our relationship has run its course. We're in two totally different places.

“We don't really speak or talk and it's sad, but in another way it's like it's all good. I don't think she could win.

"She needs some guidance, but she's not thinking that and honestly, I'm going to drop her," he said.

Ashanti was signed to The Inc. Records - then called Murder Inc. - in 2002. Her last album, The Declaration, was released in 2008.

Isnt she supposed to be recording her next album right now though?

Brilliant news tbh.

She's quite talented and could easily be big again. Murder Inc are a terrible label, on par with BAD BOY and BLACKGROUND so this can only be good news.

As Jark said the other day, Irv hasn't had a successful artist since... SHE was last successful.

Ahh, I really hope she'll find another label to pick her up when that happens. I have a bit of a soft spot for her.

It was always coming really wasn't it? She has been in steady decline since her debut to be honest... Personally, I have found the material to be in steady decline also.

Ashanti >>>> Chapter II >>>> Concrete Rose >>>>> The Declaration

If she kind of bundled the best tracks from the latter 3 and put them into one album it would be canny good.

i do hope that she'll have get another good recording company to record her songs..she's really a good music artist though..:)

I love Ashanti

sum1 is gona wan2 scoop her up fosure

They'll be plenty of other identical R&B divas to fill her place. She should be happy she was lucky enough to last this long with Murder Inc. which is essentially a gangsta rap label anyway. Those labels often have shady politics involved .She'll probably be better of on a major if she's good enough. Who's heard anything from her recently apart from fans? It might elevate her status to what it once was: robbing amazing MCs and bands of their chance and replacing it with samey but catchy R&B tunes.

I love her, she can do so much better with a new label. They didn't promote her as much as they did during her early years, it's time she moved on. I hate Irv Gotti...ugh

i think she definitely has talent, but what has she really done in recent years? if she wants to keep putting out music im sure she will have no trouble finding another label
Hmm this is interesting I'm not surprised that Gotti wants to "drop" her cause I mean they are in a different place in their lives. Plus what was the last thing that she did besides her album in 08( did she really) well i say good luck to the both of them
