May 19, 200916 yr this band are supporting Nine Inch Nails in July (when im seeing them :o ) reccomend me some albums Ben, your good at doing that.
May 19, 200916 yr Author They only have two albums LAWLZ. Well, a few other ones but they're like srsly indie and I dunno if they're even available on the net. 'Frengers' and 'And the Glass Handed Kites', both are good. ;o If you just want to check out songs I'd recommend 'Apocalypso' and 'Special'.
May 19, 200916 yr Author A Triumph For Man was like their indie debut that I haven't been able to find anywhere, so I wasn't counting that. 80% of Half the World is Watching Me was released on Frengers, and then I wasn't counting No More Stories. Don't :/ me Christopher. D:<
May 22, 200916 yr I honestly cant believe this bunch of lightweights are opening for Jane's Addiction and NIN.... I mean...JEEZ.... I mean, okay, last time I saw NIN, they had Ladytron opening for them, but that kind of worked.... I have to say that Mew opening the NIN/JA show seems a bit like 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster opening for Fear Factory about five years back... And trust me, that wasn't pretty....
May 22, 200916 yr Author You think Mew are soft? NIN have had Deerhunter and The Dresden Dolls open for them LOL. They'll be fine. Trent has always had a notoriously indie/obscure/good taste in music.
May 22, 200916 yr You think Mew are soft? NIN have had Deerhunter and The Dresden Dolls open for them LOL. Yep, I saw Dresden Dolls support em too.... But again, that worked... The Dresden Dolls had a real edge to them that complimented NIN, despite it being a different genre... Amanda Palmer is just as driven, individualistic, intense and totally dedicated to her art as Trent is, so in that way, they're two sides of the same coin in a lot of ways.... Personally, I think he should've gone for Emilie Autumn to open his shows.... If you want someone who's obscure, bizarre and quite avant garde, she's pretty much all three..... I've heard some Mew stuff, and I'm just not really all that impressed....
May 23, 200916 yr Author Mew have a lot of stuff that would fit in, I think. 'Special', 'Circuitry of the Wolf', and 'Apocalypso' would all be received quite well. If a lo-fi dreamy shoegaze band (Deerhunter) can open for NIN and do fine, I imgaine Mew will, though I've never seen them live before. They're a bit of an odd combination (metal guitar hooks matched with dreamy, falsetto voice), but they're guudz. I looked up this Emilie Autumn woman and she came off as incredibly faux artsy and a try hard. A poor mixture of Amy Lee, Tori Amos, and Bjork. 'What If' is a complete rip off of Silent All These Years. She's hardly avant garde as all of the songs I listened to had noticeable, poppy hooks. Though I dunno what a NIN crowd is like. ;o Never seen them live. Might in June, my friend offered me a ticket...

Though I dunno what a NIN crowd is like. ;o Never seen them live. Might in June, my friend offered me a ticket... 'What If' is from Emilie's first album "Enchant", which is, indeed, VERY sort of mainstreamy Pop hooks, one or two songs on that album could almost have been sung by Rihanna or Britney Spears... I dont like it, at all tbh, and apparently, neither did she, as she never even plays songs from that album live anymore as far as I'm aware... She really comes into her own with the "Opheliac" album, and she starts using far more interesting arrangements on the songs, she starts using the violin and hapsichords a lot more, and the sort of Industrial-y beats..... She was around before Amy Lee actually, she played violin in Courtney Love's band.. "Laced/Unlaced", an instrumental album she did, is superb, one half is versions of Bach, Corelli, Ortiz, LeClair, and the other half is her own neo-classical compositions... I think you'll find, if you investigate further, that she is indeed a very interesting and very contradictory artist.....
May 23, 200916 yr To Be Honest, i think Trent should of got Street Sweeper Social Club for the UK shows, i have listened to all the Mew albums now, im up for a nice nap before NIN :)
May 24, 200916 yr im up for a nice nap before NIN :) I'll prob be in the bar when this lot are on..... Dont fall asleep Chris, you'll miss Jane's Addiction...... :P
May 24, 200916 yr I'll prob be in the bar when this lot are on..... Dont fall asleep Chris, you'll miss Jane's Addiction...... :P surely they will wake me :o
May 29, 200916 yr Author New track streaming here, a hype track so probably not the best of what's to come: http://pitchfork.com/forkcast/12926-introd...palace-players/
June 30, 200916 yr Author Via Trent Reznor: Mew sent me a copy of their new record and it's really excellent. Very unusual and unexpected - a real "grower". Plus, Mew sound so good live it kind of pisses me of. Excitingz. 'No More Stories EP' leaked online a few days ago featuring four new tracks as well as Introducing Palace Players. Good stuff.
July 1, 200916 yr yeah i saw yesterday he twittered about Mew being good live, they only have 20 mins though, IN TWO WEEKS TIME :w00t: im not excited or anything obvs.
