Yeah definitely. I've heard around half of the album in some form now and I'm thinking it's all sounding good. I suppose she was never gonna release a dud when she's doing exactly what she wants.

HQ clips of the title track, 'Turned To Stone' and 'Breakout' (a 'banger'!) are on Bev's myspace as of now. :D

Love all of them! Such great production. Stone is my favourite I think...

As usual, our Bev opinions differ as 'Stone' is probably my least favourite of those three. It would probably be my favourite if those backing singers (I don't think it's her, like it is sometimes) weren't on the chorus. Kinda ruins it a little for me, I was anticipating that one as we first saw her doing vocals for it in her video message back in...March. I'll get used to it in time

"100%" is obviously lush and is just as good in full. Reminds me a little of her old albums, mixed with a bit of Gabrielle (I want to say the horns remind me of "If You Really Cared", but I might have the wrong song)

"Breakout" is so Disco, if only Bev was around in the 70s and 80s, I honestly believe she could have been a big name like Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin or Chaka Khan. But no one wants a new version of those girls (heck, there's not even a market for those three any more) these days.

Anyway, some big news regarding the release date. Apparently it's now out on the 7th, same day as the single. Oh Bev. Bad decision.

"Turned To Stone" is amazing! Definiely the best out of those 3 tracks.

Anyway, why is Bev releasing the album the same day as the single! Bad move. :(

Ugh, I'm such a flop fan. I guess "Turned To Stone" is growing though.

I don't know, that's never a wise choice. :(

A couple of people have actually got promo copies of this and put reviews on Amazon:

Bursting with a fresh and current soulful vibe. Mixed to perfection.

'100%' is the brand new offering from Ms Beverley Knight MBE, due to be released on September 7th 2009, and signals the welcome return of the Queen of Soul, this time with her own record label Hurricane Records. She has enlisted the help of some of the big names in the business, including Guy Chambers, Jam & Lewis and of course, DJ Munro!

The girl has done good! I have been listening to the album for almost a week and am still utterly ecstatic about it!

Without giving too much away and spoiling the surprise, standout tracks for me so far are 'Soul Survivor', 'Bare', 'Every Step', 'Square Peg' and 'Turned To Stone'.

We were promised a big duet and you will not be disappointed! The legendary Chaka Khan joins Bev on 'Soul Survivor'. With its thumping disco beat, this is a solid feel-good song that screams HIT! It promises to be an incredible addition to the live set and will blow away any cobwebs. Wow! Hoping to see Chaka perform it live with Beverley at least on one occasion.

I am absolutely in love with the ballad 'Bare' with it's meaningful lyrics and gospel feel that leaves you with goosebumps! It really showcases Beverley's beautiful tone and range.

The lead single 'Beautiful Night' is a very pretty tune, and is very radio friendly. Loved it from the first time I heard it.

Square Peg - an odd title I thought, until I heard the lyrics, and then it made sense. Such a beautifully written song that I think many people will be able to relate to.

Gold Chain really reminds me of Anastacia in style and voice.

Without doubt, Beverley deserves to be up there. This is repeated time and again in reviews and interviews but I will say it again, Beverley Knight is one of the most talented female artists the UK has produced and it baffles me why she doesn't have more global commerical success. But this new record should turn a few heads and get her noticed more!

If you get a chance to go and see this lovely lady live on her tour this winter, don't miss out!

Her vocal ability is faultless and her lyrics touch your heart. Her live shows are an incredible experience, backed by a superb band! Once will not be enough!

I highly recommend you buy this album. You will love it - I am 100% sure of that!

After a good couple of years, Beverley Knight is back with a fabulous new album. The UK's soul queen has taken the best of her back catalogue and made an eclectic and fresh new record that will appeal to all her fans and more!

`In Your Shoes' is one of the massive highlights on this album, reminiscent to the days of `Greatest Day' and `Made It Back '99', sampling Orange Juice's `Rip It Up'. This track is one of those feel good songs that's screaming for release!

Other highlights include the Chaka Khan collaboration `Soul Survivor' which is very gospel/rock, a real soul sister anthem! `Square Peg' a very contemporary pop song, very dramatic, pianos and the very pretty `Painted Pony', Christmas single me thinks! `Bare' is an instant Bev classic, and 'Turned To Stone' is incredibly addictive.

Only negative would be the inclusion of `Too Much Heaven', it's very similar to the original, would fit better on a Bee Gees compilation album.

So excited now! "Square Peg" and "Bare" are sounding good.

Oof! Only 2 and a bit weeks until the release so a leak might not be far off, but if it doesn't leak I can wait. I think I'm going to buy the physical regardless. I bought MCS so it would seem prudish not to invest in what looks to be a much better album.

I am worried that they're going to go with Soul Survivor as second single though. Obviously I've yet to hear the studio version but the iTunes festival performance really underwhelmed me... of the clips we've heard so far, Turned To Stone and Breakout would make better singles.

I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't leak, but she'll be adding clips of songs we haven't heard yet every week until the release to her Myspace. So watch out for those. I'll definitely be buying the physical, I'm just baffled as to why it's out on the same day as the single.

It's a shame you were underwhelmed by the performance as I thought it was easily the highlight of her set when I was there. :( Saying that, someone over at the BKMassive ranked it 6th out of the 8 tracks he'd heard after the performance and now he has the album it's in his top 3! (behind "In Your Shoes" and "Beautiful Night")

Apparently she's been talking about singles on Twitter today and she said it's likely to be "Soul Survivor"/"In Your Shoes" (double A side  ) followed by "Breakout".

'Beautiful Night' isn't out on the same day as the physical AFAIK, look at Manic's schedule:

As much as i do adore the live version of Soul Survivor, it simply isnt going to work as a single, not that i think she's even that bothered anymore though..

Well anyway, i cant wait for this album. I may even buy the physical. Oh yes, and i didnt even buy Kellys or VV's albums on physical.

Great reviews aswell btw. But yeah a slightly retarded decision to release both single and album on the same date. Who the hells gonna buy the single if they can just get it on the album?

I don't think it's retarded at all. The single is download-only so the people who just want the single and not the album will still download the single, and those who just want the album will buy the album in which case it doesn't matter if the single flops.

The album version of Beautiful Night is on her myspace now (a clip anyway). Longer first verse but less punch. Prefer the single edit.

Yeah, I think Radio 2 will love it, but it's sounding even less commercial than "Beautiful Night" so I don't think that'll work.

Yes! You must buy the physical, she needs all the help she can get.

That's what I thought. :nocheer: I'll probably buy both though. -_-

Saying that though. It is an amazing song and assuming Beautiful Night doesnt end up being a top 10 smash then it could be argued it wont even matter that much. I will be very dissapointed if the album does contain a huge hit waiting to happen yet again though (Black Butta)

Yeah, I'm not even seeing "Beautiful Night" making the top 40 now, sadly. I feel I'm gonna find out what it was like to be a fan around "Music City Soul". :(

If anything, I'd say the "Black Butta" of this album is "Soul Survivor" or "In Your Shoes" so far. They'll probably get released though.

In more exciting news, the lyrics to the whole album have been posted. (!!!)

I'm going through it now, like a kid at Christmas!
