I think they both will tbh

With a world cup coming up and those 2 being on the fringe of the England squad they have a choice of first team football and being regular starters at Sunderland or being bench warmers at Spurs next season so I think both will want to play first team football so will likely go to Sunderland

I'd like to see them both here if i'm honest, would benefit both clubs. We'll have 2 good players who will improve our squad and Spurs can use the money to start rebuilding etc - everybody wins!

Shopping at Harrods ftw.

We don't really need the money though tbh, its a trick Harry uses all the time lol says we are skint so that teams are realistic with their prices, Harry was saying in Dec/ early Jan that he had no money and would try bring in a couple of loan signings and in reality spent near on 50m lol, this summer will be the same, he will get the typical £25-30m from Levy plus anything he can sell but even if we sell no one we will still have decent amount in the kitty ^_^

Seeing loads of reports coming out now about Man Utd after Robben.

Good to see Fergie is looking to replace one twat with another.

Rooney, funny you should mention that ... Real are offering Robben to tempt Liverpool into selling Alonso. Barcelona are offering Eto'o for Mascherano and according to the Mail and the Star Liverpool are going to step up their pursuit of Glen Johnson. And I have seen Liverpool preparing to buy Crouch for 4 million.

Of course these are all rumours ... take with a liberal dose of sodium chloride ... gotta love the silly summer season <_<

I think the journo that wrote that about Crouch needs drug testing :o

£4m ?

One of the highest goalscorers in the premiership last season that was English, established England international, mid 20's, Crouch is worth 3 times that amount

Did think it was on the low side!

My general rule of thumb for rumours ... in a tabloid, approach with caution; in a broadsheet, more plausible. Is this the inner snob in me coming out?

Well considering Portsmouth signed Crouch for £11 million, yet due to well documented financial difficulities they have only paid Liverpool around £6m of that amount so far; hence the £4m figure suggested in the media is more than plausible to sell him back to the club, effectively turning the deal into a £1m one year loan to Portsmouth.

Portsmouth are filthy rich now though thanks to their Dubai backed takeover so will not be in a position to need to bargain on prices

Exactly.

That is why they could decide to get rid of Crouchy instead of paying up his transfer fee in full, and get someone else better instead to replace him.

All those rumours that are out about the Liverpool players are coming from the Spanish papers, who are, well, TEN TIMES worse than British press. Swap Alonso for Robben?! ahahahahaha. No chance.

I could see us selling Arbeloa though... not because Rafa wants to, but its well documented he's a bit homesick.

..... and the early prize for the most ridiculous transfer story of the summer (so far) goes to......

SIR ALEX WANTS TORRES TO BE THE NEW RONALDO

Sunday June 14,2009

Daily Express

By John Richardson

SIR ALEX FERGUSON is planning an audacious raid on Liverpool for Kop striking hero Fernando Torres.

Armed with the £80 million windfall from Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid, the Manchester United boss is determined to make his own impact in a transfer market which is becoming bloated with money from the big clubs.

Liverpool hitman Torres is the shock target, as Sir Alex knows that a bid of around £40m would have to be seriously considered by United’s title rivals who have severe cash problems.

If Ferguson could pull off the coup, it would be a slap in the face for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who was involved in a war of words with the Scot during the second half of the season.

Liverpool, who paid £20m to bring Torres from Atletico Madrid, would fight tooth and nail to hang on to the Spaniard but a British transfer record offer would give the Anfield boardroom serious food for thought.

In the meantime, Ferguson will pursue what could turn out to be more realistic targets – Lyon’s French striker Karim Benzema, Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o, Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero, Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery and Valencia’s David Silva.

A £20m deal to take Wigan’s wide right sided player Antonio Valencia to Old Trafford will be finalised in the next few days.

United believe they will lose Carlos Tevez to neighbours Manchester City but are more confident of fighting off the interest in unsettled defender Nemanja Vidic, who is being monitored by Barcelona and AC Milan.

LIVERPOOL FC OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Paul Eaton 14 June 2009

Liverpool Football Club has today released the following statement.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...090614-1327.htm

"Despite repeated media speculation on the futures of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, Liverpool has received no official approach or offer from any club regarding the players.

"Neither is for sale and furthermore Liverpool has no interest in the long list of Spanish based players being linked with a move to Anfield as part of any deal."

Hahahaha I read that article earlier, and it is the most sensationalised article ever. £40m for Torres first off? No way. A unhappy winger, with 3 years left on his contract, who was already expressed his desire to leave (and for £80) as opposed to a player who is very happy at the club, and recently signed an extension to his contract. Hmmm.

That statement is quite worrying from Liverpool as well imo. It won't be the end of speculation. The thing is, when the press sensationalised all our debt, I think a lot of clubs think we have to sell players (which is not the case), and think they can pick them up on the cheap (there's a rumour going round at the moment from a reputable source, that the owners are considering letting Rafa have a huge transfer budget if the re-financing goes ahead in an attempt to get big players and the money from merchandise sales etc. will pay for the players. Sort of like Real Madrid are doing, but they can afford to take more gambles as they negotiate their own TV deals in Spain) . Except Gerrard, I think every player at Liverpool has a price, and that statement could be a "give us an offer we can't refuse". But I don't think Rafa wants to sell either unless stupid money is thrown.

^ Be thankful that you're not strongly linked with Lee Cattermole and Tight-arse Bramble. Of all the fucking Wigan players we could be linked with moves for, they choose those two. It's not exactly like Bruce was certain sections of our fans' first choice as manager, so he's going to have to buy sensibly in the market otherwise he's going to have people on his back from the off.
lol Cattermole is a good player I would like to see him at Spurs, he is hard, a good leader etc, he is someone who could do a useful job for us, my sympathies if you end up woth Bramble though

Cattermole is highly over-rated imo. Good but not THAT good, plus he's also a dirty little sod. That and the fact we're apparently going to pay £7m for him?? wtf? We could get a better player than him for less, so i'd avoid.

If we sign Bramble i'm not sure i'll have the will to turn up to games. We've already got one Nosworthy, we don't need another.

Agreed Craig. I think Cattermole would be a good signing for any Premier League team bar the Top 4 and Man City. But Bramble on the other hand... signing him would just be asking for trouble!

Titus Bramble is a very good player. In his two seasons under Bruce he's made mistakes incredibly rarely, especially in compared to his Newcastle days. He's not an amazing player but most Wigan fans see past what most people see and know their team would be MUCH weaker without Bramble in it. It's also quite ironic that Bramble was twice the player any Newcastle defender was last season, it's not really him to be honest, just Newcastle. I think Bramble is better than any centre half Sunderland currently have.
