July 14, 200916 yr Author Why on earth do you want Dunne? He was probably the main reason Man City aren't in Europe this season.... He should've had stick worse than Titus Bramble has ever got last season. I don't think their defence is that bad to be honest. Bridge is a solid left back, Richards and Kompany at centre back protected by De Jong and Barry. I think that's better than all their competition bar maybe Everton. They do need a right back though... I definitely think they should stop buying forward players now. They already had Bellamy, Elano, Petrov, SWP, Ireland and Robinho and now have Santa Cruz and Tevez. If they do get Adebayor as well it'll be ridiculous. Bridge Richards Kompany would not give me confidence if I was a City fan. They do need a right back, but God knows who they can get. They might have to shift Richards to right back if worst comes to worst. But Micah Richards has gone backwards this past 12 months. He severly lacks confidence and is an absolute liablity. If he is in their first choice back line with Hughes still as manager come the beginning of the season then they're f***ed.
July 14, 200916 yr Slightly OT but I doubt anyone would care if it was in a seperate topic.... Notts County takeover completed Munto Finance have completed their takeover of Notts County, reports BBC Radio Nottingham. Peter Trembling has been named as the club's new chairman and chief executive with Peter Willett alongside him on the board of directors. Former directors, including chairman John Armstrong-Holmes, have resigned. Trembling told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Our plans are very straightforward. We want to bring success back to Notts County Football Club." He added: "We have already voiced our plans for the next five years, and that's very clearly to get us into the Championship. "It may be that this season is one of consolidation...but without doubt, the concentration, the onus, is on getting up this season." Trembling promised though that the new owners will spend their money carefully. He said: "It's going to be a careful and considered investment and we will be running the football club as a proper business." Notts have finished in the bottom half of League Two every year since 2005, but Trembling says there is enormous potential. "The appeal of Notts County," he said, "is that this is a club with great heritage and tradition. "It's a club that's been a sleeping giant for far too long, it's a club with it's own stadium on a long-term lease from the council. "It's a club with a very loyal fan base, in addition to a dormant fan base that we believe we can get back to Meadow Lane, and it's a club that sits in the great city of Nottingham." Trembling also admitted that the tag of the 'world's oldest league club' is one he hopes to exploit. He said: "There's an awful lot we can do with that to take Notts County to a much bigger audience." ------------------------ Interesting, it's said that their owners will be behind QPR only in terms of wealth outside the Premier League. I hope it works out for them but they don't go ridiculous. It would be nice to play them competitively though and have both Nottingham teams go at least someway towards levels of former glory. We've both underperformed for too long now.

If he is in their first choice back line with Hughes still as manager come the beginning of the season then they're f***ed. I still rate him. I don't think it helped that he had Dunne and Zabaleta either side of him. They both made far too many errors and I do think it had an effect on Richards. Move Kompany to the back and get a new right back and I think he'd improve significantly.
July 14, 200916 yr Author ^^ you got Paul Anderson at a steal as well! Hope to God we've put a load of buy-back/sell on clauses in the deal as 250k is a steal considering we were going to sell him to Swansea before Martinez left for 750k!

Hope to God we've put a load of buy-back/sell on clauses in the deal as 250k is a steal considering we were going to sell him to Swansea before Martinez left for 750k! I was shocked we got him so cheap. I wasn't particularly that bothered about signing him for the money that Swansea has bid as he wasn't that good (he was better the season before with them) but for so little it's a really good deal. I would imagine there will be at least a sell on clause because he definitely has potential...

I would imagine there will be at least a sell on clause because he definitely has potential... Yeah I agree. I don't think he's ready just yet though, especially for the Premier League, otherwise Martinez would have put a bid in for him as he'd just lost Valencia to Man Utd. But yeah he definitely has big potential. But I just don't think he's good enough to ever be in Liverpool's first team, and we've much better youth players who have the potential to first teamers within the next 2-3 years.
July 14, 200916 yr I'd like Dunne because barring last season he's been one of the most consistent players for City and solid at the back. Who's to say he wouldn't come here and refind his form? It would probably help his cause that we're a more settled club than City. Add to that he's experienced at both club and international level and he's a captain and a leader and I believe he'd improve our back 4.
July 14, 200916 yr Richards has some erm quite serious lifestyle problems, he gets those sorted he will be a top class player As for Terry it could go one of 2 ways tbh, he is a class player but he is very injury prone these days and has a serious back condition that could shorten his career likewise Carvalho looked the better CB at Chelsea when they were together
July 14, 200916 yr Author Let's not mistake Richards also thought his case of swine flu was infact ALCOHOL POISONING ahahaha
July 14, 200916 yr Let's not mistake Richards also thought his case of swine flu was infact ALCOHOL POISONING ahahaha There you go lol, thats his lifestyle problem, he is notorious for his heavy drinking :o
July 14, 200916 yr Author There you go lol, thats his lifestyle problem, he is notorious for his heavy drinking :o He also lived in Chapeltown in Leeds LOL If you don't know Leeds very well, well, let's just say Chapeltown pretty much is the ghetto of Leeds... can't be a very good influence on the lad. But he could become a very good player, but he's just all physique and no skill. He lacks a footballing brain, and this is something that is not going to come to him naturally. he's only young so he can certainly improve, but he's not going to improve under Mark Hughes. He's still clumsly and a liability, and better defenders around him is not going to change that imo.
July 15, 200916 yr Ourselves and Fulham have had bids accepted for Peter Crouch. Looks like it's between us and the cottagers then. Hope we get him personally.
July 15, 200916 yr OH DARTTTT, it just gets worse for Hull hahaha  Fulham have announced that they have accepted a £5million offer from Hull City for striker Bobby Zamora. The Tigers have been desperately attempting to sign attacking reinforcements after only escaping Premier League relegation on the final day of last season. Hull boss Phil Brown has missed out on deals for Michael Owen, Fraizer Campbell and Marc-Antoine Fortune this summer, but could now be successful. Zamora only joined Fulham from West Ham last July in a combined move which also included John Paintsil, with the forward's cost in the switch believed to be £4.8m. The 28-year-old struggled last season with the Cottagers and scored only four goals for Roy Hodgson's side in all competitions. Zamora netted on two occasions in the league, while his other two goals came in the FA Cup. Courtesy of Sky Sports dot com. LMAO Murphy and Zamora - Premier League defences beware
July 15, 200916 yr Author Hmm well now that Hull have got Zamora, idk where Crouch will go. Good player, still wish we had him at Liverpool as he's such a useful option but I dunno where he'll go if both Sunderland and Fulham are after him. I guess it just depends on whether he wants to stay down south after moving back there, or going back up north. But very good player either way and he'll only improve both clubs if he leaves. Adebayor looks to be going to Man City now, I think it's pretty much confirmed. Stuart Downing looks to be going to Villa as well. Does it look like Young is going then? I've heard rumours saying he's been training with Spurs, but someone's just posted that Liverpool are after him apparently so we shall see. Does look like he might be leaving Villa though.

July 15, 200916 yr OH DARTTTT, it just gets worse for Hull hahaha  Courtesy of Sky Sports dot com. LMAO Murphy and Zamora - Premier League defences beware  Roy Hodgson must be laughing his way to the bank. He pays £4.8m for Zamora and Pantsil combined, one year, 35 appearences & 2 goals later and Zamora is going for £5m on his own! Sorry but Hull are surely going down. Awful manager, awful players.
July 15, 200916 yr Have Bayern Munich really sold Podolski and then replaced him with Gomez spending nearly 3 times as much?! Oh dear!
July 15, 200916 yr Roy Hodgson must be laughing his way to the bank. He pays £4.8m for Zamora and Pantsil combined, one year, 35 appearences & 2 goals later and Zamora is going for £5m on his own! Sorry but Hull are surely going down. Awful manager, awful players. Aye. £6.5m (Possibly rising to £7.5m I hear) on two players who, combined, scored 2 league goals last season. I'd be very surprised if Hull don't struggle next season. It's almost as if Brown is going out of his way to try and get the club relegated?
July 15, 200916 yr Author Have Bayern Munich really sold Podolski and then replaced him with Gomez spending nearly 3 times as much?! Oh dear! Gomez is better than Podolski. Podolski has been absolutely terrible of late. Far cry away from 2006... And I agree about Hull. Can't see them doing well this season. If they want to stay up Brown needs to go imo. I reckon they'll be joined by Wolves and Burnley in the Championship at the end of the season, just as an early prediction.
July 16, 200916 yr Crouch in Sunderland for talks as I type this. Hopefully this means a deal is close. All that needs to be done now is to give his missus a tour of The Bridges, to see if it meets WAG standards.
