July 28, 200915 yr It seems Zamora has decided not to come to grand old Humberside. Must of been that chance to partner Daryl Murphy upfront not happening change his mind. We have now made zero signings. Scunthorpe derby's here we come. Feel free to sign Zamora in the Championship if you go down, it's his level as I found out on Saturday when he bagged 2 goals against Posh
July 28, 200915 yr I read about that, apparently them two goals were the clincher for Roy Hodgson to say he wanted to keep him.
July 28, 200915 yr He didn't actually look that good in that game either tbh, did nothing else apart from get the 2 goals, was easily disposessed by the Posh centre backs on numerous occasions. Honestly don't think he's worth the money you'd have paid for him.
July 28, 200915 yr Author Hodgson probably wants to keep him as he can't find an alternative at the moment... think Hodgson was set on getting Crouch before he went to Spurs.
July 29, 200915 yr Well Phil Brown has been given quite a bit of money to spend and he knows if he makes no signings at all the fans and the board will not be happy, I think he just wants to bring anyone in. I never rated Zamora as a player at all, or Murphy, whilst I don't think Campbell would of been enough to save us either. And with "big bids" coming in for Turner I have no idea at all how we're gonna stay up this year. I can just see Jimmy Bullard breaking his leg as well first game. Argh. You can have Ryan Babel if you want. Arbeloa joining the madhouse. :( Dossena about to go Napoli for a cut fee. Least Liverpool are going to get first refusal on Hamsik!
July 29, 200915 yr Rumoured that Aston Villa and Hull have both made bids for Darren Bent which match Sunderland's. I think he'll be a great signing to be honest, he's not amazing but I do rate him and he will score goals. People say he's been poor for Spurs but his goalscoring record has been better than 1 goal every 2 starts. I'm sure most strikers in the world would love to have that strikerate and it be considered poor.... If Hull have made a bid of up to £15m for someone it's obvious they have money to spend. But they cannot sign anyone and there must be a reason for this, and it is surely Phil Brown?!
July 29, 200915 yr Author £15m is a big sum of money for a player who really is not that good. £10m is about his price but because he's English there's a little bit more money involved. Really speaks volumes when Spurs are gonna make about £6m profit trading Crouch for Bent and getting a better striker in return!
July 29, 200915 yr Villa and Hull can go fuck themselves to be quite honest. Why would Villa even want him when they have plenty of top class strikers there? And Hull is an odd one, he'd be a class signing for them but where the hell have they got the money from?? He's rumoured to have been/be coming here for a medical so after the disappointment of the Crouch fiasco i'd like to see this one tied up asap.
July 29, 200915 yr Villa's strikeforce isn't that good. Agbonlahor is twice as overrated as Bent is, Heskey is a great player but isn't a scorer and whilst Carew is great he does get a fair amount of injuries... I've always thought a Bent/Defoe/Owen type striker would be good for them.
July 29, 200915 yr Author Martin O'Neill has a fetish for English players so it wouldn't suprise me if they went for him. They only have Agbonlahor, Heskey and Carew who are really good enough to be starters for them. MoN probably wants another striker. And Hull's chairman is pretty rich I think, he sure enough got them from being no hopers in Division 3 all the way to the Premier League within a few years.
August 4, 200915 yr Author Bent about to join Sunderland Lescott wants to move away from Everton, who want to replace him with SENDEROS hahahahha ALONSO ABOUT TO LEAVE. :(
August 4, 200915 yr Senderos will probably be a good signing to be honest, David Moyes seems like the type of manager who can make anyone look alright, no matter how bad they are or how bad they've flopped in England. Tony Hibbert and Jo for starters.... At least with Alonso going now there's enough time to bring in a replacement, and you haven't held on like Spurs did with Berbatov and then can't replace him. Aquilani are the main rumours of a replacement... Whilst Alonso will be a a huge loss, the ability to buy perhaps 3 players with the cash may work to an advantage. You still need a striker and a left back as Aurelio is out for months again IIRC. And a winger unless Babel can actually start to look like he can actually play football...
August 4, 200915 yr Alonso will be missed but, from a purely monetary point of view we have made almost 3 times what we paid for him. The rumours were that he was going to Juve for 16 million last summer ... now, in one season, he's worth 14 million more. Kinda glad the saga is over ... was this to Liverpool's disadvantage? After all there is only a week and a half til the season starts.

I'm glad the Alonso stuff is over. The replacement signing deal will already be in place I reckon, by the end of this week they'll have signed. Striker is least of our worries imo. We have Torres, N'Gog, Kuyt, Voronin, Babel and Nemeth. All competing for one spot which Torres wins hands down. I don't think we need a left back, we have Insua who is more than good enough imo. Aurellio should be back by the end of September. We need a versatile experienced defender though. That is one player I hope we bring in. I still expect us to sign another 'big' player too, as Rafa has hinted this all summer. I'd guess it'd be either Aguero, Silva or Villa. Although all apparently are not for sale, but this is silly season afterall. Good luck to Alonso. Just hope he realises that he's joined a f***ing circus and its all downhill for him for here on.
August 5, 200915 yr Confirmed on safc.com now Steve Bruce finally has his man as Sunderland have confirmed the £10m signing of Spurs striker Darren Bent. bent Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has boosted his forward line with the signing of Spurs striker Darren Bent. England international Bent, 25, has signed a four-year deal after the two clubs agreed a £10m fee. Bent becomes the most expensive player at the Stadium of Light, eclipsing the £9million paid to bring goalkeeper Craig Gordon to the club from Hearts. Capped four times by England at senior level, Bent becomes Sunderland's fourth signing of the summer, joining Fraizer Campbell, Lorik Cana and Paulo Da Silva. He made his name at Ipswich, coming through the club's Academy to debut in October 2001. A first senior goal arrived aganist Newcastle the same month. A haul of 55 goals in 116 starts plus a further 25 appearances off the bench attracted the attention of Charlton, who tied up a deal for an initial £2.5m in June 2005. Ironically, his Charlton debut came against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and yielded two goals in a 3-1 win for the visitors. He hit the net on 37 occasions from a total of 79 games for the Addicks during a two-year spell in South London before making a big-money move across the capital to Spurs. The White Hart Lane outfit parted with £16.5m to acquire the player in June 2007, and he scored his first competitive goal against Derby County during August. The striker - who passed 100 career goals in March 2008 - was Tottenham's top scorer last season but fell out of favour with boss Harry Redknapp following Spurs' move for Peter Crouch. Bent leaves White Hart Lane having potted 25 goals in all competitions from 43 starts and a further 36 substitute appearances. When asked about Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy's involvement in the transfer, a spokesperson for SAFC said; "He can go fuck himself." http://www.safc.com/javaImages/38/65/0,,10281~6841656,00.jpg Glad that's over with.
August 5, 200915 yr Author He looks about 30 with that beard. Hope he can afford a razor with hiw new wage. Liverpool have agreed a deal with Roma for Aqualini now. Transfer will go through baring he passes a medical, which I think he may fail.
August 5, 200915 yr And what's wrong with beards, may I ask? <_< Just glad to have the whole thing done and dusted, and i'm VERY surprised we got him for an initial £10m. Honestly thought Spurs would have held out for £15, but pleasantly surprised and relieved to see him in red and white stripes ^_^
August 5, 200915 yr Author There's nothing wrong with beards, but Bent's just doesn't suit him. He looks like an old mann. 10m was less than I expected. There'll probably be 5m+ on add-ons dependant on goals, trophies, finishing positings etc.
August 5, 200915 yr Aye, apparently the Spurs website is reporting it could rise to £16m. Meh. And I think i'm off to have a shave...
