how would Pixie be #1 on just 2 days sales, they still count the other 7 days not just the sales during the show for the top 10 don't they?

The top ten will only count the positions of iTunes at that moment in time. Pixie is #1 because of being in 2 positions seperately on iTunes with 2 versions. Both versions are combined, hence #1.

That chart should tempt me because Pixie would already be number one... but it's actually one of the worst ideas of our generation :)

Not likely to happen Steve...Independant Radio are tricking people to hear the chart, because it will be on 141 different Stations. Currently only just over 100 take Hit40uk.

 

Heart don`t take Hit40, neither do Real...From next week, they will take the Big Top 40. Monopolising Commercial Radio, and it will be the most listened to Top 40 because of that, and hopefully force Radio One to change presenters.

I think it will have highish listeners for the first few weeks but then they will tale off.

We've just been discussing that over the last 3 pages. Surprised about Heart and Real taking this show. It will probably have a big audience next week, but it will fall quickly if it's no good. I hope. Still, Scott Mills for the official chart :cheer:

If The Big Top 40 has songs in the top ten which won't chart until the following week in the official chart it will then make the official chart look a week behind so I wonder if there will be some changes made to the official chart soon. The X Factor winner will enter at No1 on The Big Top 40 a week ahead of Radio 1.

No the official chart will remain the same, even if it no longer has a chart show it will stay the same.

 

Also if a song sells well on a Sunday and fades throughout the week the Big Top 40 will just look odd. Also if a song is out on Sunday and hasn't risen too quickly and doesn't get the #1 spot on itunes till Monday or Tuesday it will be #1 on the Official and not on The Big Top 40.

No, it happened a couple of hours later. It would have been a week ahead again, with Black Eyed Peas.

It will happen Steve, but it won`t be anymore ridiculous to David Jensen`s old "Network Top 30". Many times there were extra #1s. It didn`t mean the chart was wrong, just different cut off points. Did you ever hear it? All the new entries, a week before Radio One, from 1984 - 1987.

 

I`ve looked back over this year from Jan - June, on Sunday`s iTunes chart at 6pm. Here are the #1s at that point:

That`s 14 correct, and 9 wrong in 23 weeks. So, the percentage is not that bad. Although KOL did not return to #1 in Feb, and the Noisettes never even got a #1! Again, not a lot different to the Network Chart`s way. The only stupid thing about the Big Top 40 is the Airplay factor, and the fact they will have 2 presenters...neither of which is needed! The top ten, will lose people`s interest because basically you can follow it on iTunes, anyway.

Well, Rich Clark does know what he`s talking about, Tom...unlike Fearne "don`t bother to research" Cotton, or her kid brother! I do find Rich`s girl friday "Kat", a touch annoying though. They do an evening show on Capital, there is a good collaberation of words/wit, but she is just annoying I find...unneeded like I said. Why pay 2 presenters to do one programme? That goes especially to the BBC! :puke2:

I thought that, Tom. The way Guetta is going...It could be #1 by Sunday. The midweek Fresh Hits Chart sent it from 49 - 2.

 

I`m launching another chart, that will be better than Big Top 40. I`m going to slide it in to the first part of the Almost Sats. Going to call it "The Fit 30". Based on downloads, but (similar to the Fresh Hits Chart) it will only feature the new releases for Monday 15th, and no songs will be thrown out. Have a look at it tomorrow.
