May 25, 200916 yr I think you can compare the two clubs. Both of you were complete jokes with regular manager changes and buying average players for well over the odds. Unlike Newcastle we didn't borrow to buy them though, that is the difference, financially we are the best run club in the premiership given the massive debt of Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal for example, we bought $h!t and didn't borrow a penny, Newcastle bought $h!t and had to borrow it
May 25, 200916 yr You can't compare us with Newcastle though We have a debt of precisely £0, all the money we spend is self generating, we haven't got a single debt and are one of the very few profitable clubs in Europe, Newcastle have colossal debt and wages that even Utd would shy away from Well I getting more at the whole having a Director of Football thing! Managers should buy the players THEY want, no one else! It didn't work for you, it didn't work for Newcastle and it doesn't work for anyone in the Premier League!

See your point but it didn't make any real difference to Newcastle this year really Tony Jiminez and Wise who were the DOF's both were fired when Keegan left although I think Wise stayed a little while in a different role, Kinnear was his own man and had no DOF nor did Shearer

May 26, 200916 yr I think whoever manages Newcastle next season will be backed by Ashley in the transfer, for it is in his interests to be back in the Premiership to minimise the losses when he eventually gets the chance to sell the club off. It will be a good chance for them to carry out a well-needed clearout of the over paid under performers. The curse of Alan Smith continues: relegated with Leeds United, the majority of his stay at Man Utd was in their barren period in the middle of the decade and now relegation with Newcastle. Phil Brown needs to be busy this summer for Hull to avoid being next season’s whipping boys! In their current state I can see them breaking Derby’s record low points tally next season. West Brom’s yo-yoing should continue next year with automatic promotion. They’re never good enough for the Premiership but too strong for the Championship. I fear for Middlesborough if they persevere with Southgate I can see a frustrating lower mid table season for them next year. I hope Burnley’s team can put up a good account of themselves next season. Burnley, Hull, Stoke and Wolves just shows how much the premiership has changed recently.
May 26, 200916 yr Yeah but there is a very Sunderland/Boro bias on this board lol  how? Last I checked there was only me and Martyn supporting Sunderland in here, and Matt's the only Boro fan (Besides, we all know that there are people here who hate Sunderland like Roo :kink:) Bleh, as for next season I can see Newcastle coming straight back up. Maybes not pissing the league as people are predicting, but I can see them at least making the playoffs. Pointless me sitting here saying things like "LOL @ NEWCASTLE BEING TEH NEW LEEDZ" cos i'll only look like a Grade A twat when they bounce straight back up under She-Ra. West Brom will probably bounce straight back up as well, can't not see them challenging tbh as they won't lose all that many (if any) of their current squad. Same goes for Boro, with the exception of Tuncay, Downing and possibly a couple of others they'll have more or less the same squad next season. If anything, Newcastle are the least prepared for life in the Fizzy Pop Prem. But the bastards will find a way to lift themselves out of it, they always do.
May 26, 200916 yr People always make the teams going down favourites to go back up but in the last 5 years (since Division 1 became The Championship) of the 15 teams to have gone down, only 3 have come straight back up (Sunderland and Birmingham in 06/07, and Birmingham again this year). The other 12 teams to have gone down have stayed down for at least a season. I don't really see enough in the three teams who've come down for that to change too much, espiecially given the competition...
