May 29, 200916 yr Gosh awful chart again, awful top 5, german people are crazy a little. lol. Gloria only #33 :(:( Manson so low :(
May 29, 200916 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 29.05 As I predicted last week, we needed the power of TV to shake the German singles charts and to finally kick off Lady Gaga from the #1 position. Thus, the latest, actually sixth, winner of the DSDS (the German Pop Idol), Daniel Schuhmacher as expected enters the chart directly at #1. Thus he follows the path of all other male winners of the show, who all have charted at the top with their debut singles. The only exception is Elli, who reached the #3 position, after winning the second edition of DSDS and so the fact that no other woman has won since is not surprising at all. Without neglecting Alexander Klaws, the first winner, I have to say that the most successful so far has been Mark Medlock, whose current summer anthem "Mamacita" sits this week at #3. As long as Daniel is concerned, he is close to the cheesy formula of Alexander, rather than the "rock" idol Thomas from last year. As Alexander had several successful singles, I will refrain myself from any projections to what extent the career of Daniel will develop. And am I the only one who sees a physical resemblance with Daniel Bedingfield? The second highest new entry comes from another winner, as Eurovision sensation Alexander Rybak comes in at #4. After winning the vote of entire Europe, Alexander proves that the Eurovision is not dead after all (and indeed there have been songs this year which are really good) and manages to beat by an inch the #5 peak of Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" from 2006. I am now too lazy to check who of the Eurovision winners charted higher :P and if someone has this information, please share. Last winner Dima Bilan reached only #52, while Marija Serifovic did not enter the countdown. At least I can say that following Nicole's smash hit "Ein bischen Frieden" in 1982 (number one of course), Alexander is the third Eurovision winner to enter the top 5 after Lordi and Johnny Logan (1987 - #2). Eurovision is also responsible for the 49-20 jump of the German entry from Alex Swings Oscar Sings which at least now manages to enter the top 20 after entering at #27 seven weeks ago. In addition, we can find the Turkish entry in the competition at #70 and the UK one at #75. The next week it will be interesting to observe how all those songs perform and I really hope that "Fairytale" does not collapse. The next new song in the chart is also TV related and despite credited as a re-entry, the appearance of Sportfreunde Stiller's "Ein Kompliment" at #11 is actually because of its new Unplugged version, which makes my day every time I hear it on VIVA. Strongly recommended for all who are into German music. "Ein Kompliment" is the second biggest hit of Sportfreunde Stiller after the #1 football anthem "'54, '74, '90, 2006 (oder 2010) " Bad news for the follow-up of Mando Diao's megahit "Dance with Somebody" (this week at #17). "Gloria", despite a great song, fails to enter the top 30 and although #33 is not so bad position (and is actually their second best performing single), it deserved to be higher. Higher also deserve to be Australian twins The Veronicas but Germans, unlike a lot of other countries, do not seem to like "Untouched" that much, placing it at #48. And although I don't remember it, the girls have a top 30 single with "4ever" in 2006. Edited May 29, 200916 yr by YanBG
May 29, 200916 yr 48 ne.gif 01 The Veronicas - Untouched - it could pick up more sales next week, I hope.
