for the UK, yes :( the media will assume that if we couldn't win with a song composed by the great lord, we'll never do well with any average songwriters

The rumour was that either Gary Barlow, or Elton John would write for us next year :o Su Pollard's name was also mentioned though, rather disturbingly

Su Pollard...are you actually joking? I can imagine it now, a cheesy holiday camp/comedy song a la Scooch but worse

I hope we get Gary Barlow, Elton's song would be out of touch like ALW's I fear

Agree, Gary is best. Elton is potentially good, but he would need a good lyricist, he's a music guy. Su Pollard's name came up on a EUrovision group I read... I'm not joking but I hope they were :puke2:

I long for Gary Barlow to write another Patience/Rule The World

the songs on The Circus don't come anywhere close :(

It's true :( But a song like that could surely win Eurovision :D
fingers crossed, although Rule The World hasn't exactly proved it's 'classic status' in the rest of the world's charts which wouldn't bode well for ESC success for a similar song...it only reached the top ten in the UK, Ireland and Italy...and could only make No.15 in Germany, the same position that Leona Lewis' Run peaked at...WHY must they ignore stellar pop classics there :(
TBH the German chart is $h!te... 5-10 years ago it was amazing, but now it's all ringtones and novelty German language rappers...

much like the UK chart 5 years back then but substitute novelty German rappers with Novelty American rappers :funky: but I'll forgive them for the fact that Jungle Drum is currently their No.1

True, good number one :kink:
God I hope so... It must be rereleased! Emiliana for Iceland 2010? :kink:

To win now the Eurovision you need someone with a strong scene presence who comes very quick across to a broad european audience or an ost-european friendly sound. I am afraid that TakeThat is not such kind of group, and the songs of Barlow for other artists where for me rather disspointing and boring.

The chart places are irrelevant, as quite few Eurovision songs made the charts in Europe.

I disagree with the Circus. For example Hold up a light could be a very good song for eurovision, happy and powerful. I am perhaps from the few who didn't like Beautiful world to much but loves The Circus (but i hate also Back for good  ).

Elton is a little bit too dusted to be relevant now. Exactly like ALW was.

If someone could win Eurovision for UK is for me for sure Robbie. He has a huge name in whole Europe. Also Leona could have a big chance. Somehow i see also Mika with a good chance if the song is as direct as Grace Kelly.

Thing is, we have to be realistic - we will never send an artist like that. Our performer will always be a new face, or C-list. Sadly no British superstar will risk their career on Eurovision even now, and if the songwriter is famous, that just means that they can blame the performer for the flop :(

The song is fantastic really, the performance is even greater than the studio version. The crowd that year was clearly the best. The early performing number was a disadvantage as well. One of the 2007-defining songs.

Turkey is my fetish I'm pretty proud of tbh. Love eveything about them apart from Rimi Rimi ley. Although only 4 Turkish entries are featured in this list I love almost all of the 21st century entries. Süper Star is the first in this list.

Unfortunately, yes :(

I still can't get into 2002 (and 2001 but only currently I'm sure as i downloaded the video of the show to watch :w00t: ) due to the reason in brackets :(

I managed to find 9 of last decade's shows but no sign of 2002 :snif: And YouTube quality doesn't seem appealing.
