May 30, 200916 yr I never ke much notice of these. I just feel it's all guess work and none of their business.
May 30, 200916 yr on the news craig from bb just raised his eyebrows at his amount, i am sure its guess work - after all it always transpires in later years people seem to have nothing and moan about the labels taking so much..i do wonder how some of these are supposed to have made so much. as for darius, they dont seem to think he has done anythng since ps...i am amazed they gave him that much, that would do me till i am too old to need it.
June 15, 200916 yr on the news craig from bb just raised his eyebrows at his amount, i am sure its guess work - after all it always transpires in later years people seem to have nothing and moan about the labels taking so much..i do wonder how some of these are supposed to have made so much. as for darius, they dont seem to think he has done anythng since ps...i am amazed they gave him that much, that would do me till i am too old to need it. I think you're right. I wasn't going to post in the thread in the reality TV forum but in view of those who've expressed surprise at the figure for Darius, believing it should be higher, I posted this today with some thoughts on how many considerations need to be taken into account and a sprinkling of some of the things D has done which most people may be unaware of. The point is no-one knows what criteria they've used to come to their conclusions. No-one knows if they've taken into account foreign sales and more importantly for a songwriter, foreign airplay. Have they worked on the basis of what proportion of the rights the co-writers had on particular songs or have they just used one size fits all?; have they taken into account the sales of compilation albums the artists' songs were on?, or if songs which were written but not recorded by the artist were later recorded on albums by other artists and also released as singles? And what of cover mount deals with newspapers, are they counted? All of that brings in quite a bit of revenue and all of those apply to Darius. Without that sort of information it would be pretty impossible to judge what any individual songwriter earned. Then there are ringtones, karaoke tracks and re-mixes, for all of which a songwriter gets returns. How much was Darius paid when Colourblind was used in the film Afterlife? Did they count his book deal? What of his speaking role in Hollyoaks, other TV presentation and many stints as guest DJ on several stations? Do they ever have the remotest clue of anything Darius or others do in Scotland or the North of England unless it's fed to them by PR people? He'd been working solidly there for months and when he appeared in London at 19's Gala Celebration the tabloids claimed it was his first UK appearance for ages. Do they know what he earned as Billy Flynn at the Adelphi and later at the Cambridge, as Sky Masterson and as Rhett Butler last year? Has he been producing others in his LA studio? I suspect the Sun wouldn't have researched too deeply into Darius or others and can't say with any certainty what any of them have earned. Darius is an astute young man and he's never led a lavish lifestyle. Did he sell his UK business interests and London property at the height of the boom when he went to LA or are some of them still earning him money while he sleeps? Did he make a further killing when he sold his LA residence to move in with Natasha? Observing him with P Y Gerbeau outside the Cambridge, I couldn't hear their conversation but it seemed more than social and I wondered if they had business relations. June 16, 200916 yr Very interesting, I am sure not everything on here has been taken into consideration
June 19, 200916 yr I've never considered these 'lists' to be accurate,,,,,,,,more like hopeful guesswork to make an eye-catching article to boost the paper's circulation, aimed at a gullible public in the presnt-day climate of celebrity-worship or celebrity-curiosity.
June 19, 200916 yr I read somewhere that the alleged source of this list was Current TV, an internet TV channel which is user driven and whose strapline says .." where you make the news and we put it on TV".
June 20, 200916 yr Pity the media can't resist picking up any drivel which comes in list form to fill left over column space. Then everyone accepts it as gospel because several other blogs etc. post it all over the net over and over for months on end. Edited June 20, 200916 yr by Baytree
June 20, 200916 yr I just don't take any notice - it really is rubbish. It succeeds though, most people seem to read it and believe it.
June 22, 200916 yr I think this sort of thing is interesting but I suppose we don't really know for any of them how accurate it is.
