I find it hilarious that obviously the best singer here - Aretha Franklin is getting thrashed by artists nearer to now. Enya I can just about understand ... but Janet Jackson? Just shows what the distance of time does. I bet if we had Elvis V Justin Timberlake now - Justin would thrash Elvis! :lol:

I like Aretha Franklin the only singer i didnt like in the list is Britney spears and i usually dont put singer and britney in the one sentence...aretha has done some great stuff but when doing these games the majority rule applies for me as in there are more janet songs i love than aretha so its not a case at all of forgotten classic over time. As for Justin vs Elvis it woulnt bother me who would win or lose as i think both are and were hugely over rated and i stress hugely. I have a funny ole way of dealing with my music i like a very varied form of music but the nostalga that follows the beatles and elvis annoys the hell out of me at time however i understand the talent they had...the artists of today have it far harder as the pressures are different fame is completly different to what is was 10 years and likewise technology and all that comes into play now plus the fact the volume of music made in the 50's and 60's was not as high as it is now which also makes it harder. Enya is brilliant i think she is in a field of her own sticks to making brilliant music and keeps herself out of of the press tabloids etc and is solely known for music and still manages to sell very well after been in the business well over 20 years.

Well, Norma, in my book, Elvis would take out Justin in a heartbeat.....I never have had a liking, or understood what Justin's appeal is....having said that, I'm sure Elvis had the same effect on the older generation back in the day.....as for Enya, she does come a very musically inclined family....her mother was a music teacher, and her dad was in a dance band in Ireland in the 1940's and 50's.....in fact, to this day, her dad can be heard and seen playing in his pub in Ireland on a frequent basis....as for the other female singers, as much as they contributed to music, save for Britney, they just don't have the same appeal to me as Enya, although I have been known, from time to time, give them a healthy listen.....

If I'm honest ... I can't stand Elvis Presley - I'd much rather hear Roy Orbison if I was going to listen to someone from a past era. I think the first song of Elvis's that I truly liked was A Little Less Conversation.
