I've posted one argumenting and respectful post at the top of this page, and then I've been called consecutively lame, retarded, motherf***er (oh, as a joke though), my arguments being $h!t, and so on.

I don't care what others have told to you, I am not the others, so I expect the same respect back. Debate aside, you really have an attitude problem, and can't express yourself without turning agressive.

Sorry if I "offended" you, but if you're "not the others", then it wasn't directed at you... I didn't call you a retarded, lame, motherfukker specifically... I just think your argument was a bit lame and retarded because it's really the same sh!t that others have spouted which was equally lame, it's not actually the same thing as calling you a lame re****.....

The arguments you posted are pretty spotty, you have to admit, and can easily be countered... I'm frustrated by people who just cannot see the essential truth that faking a LIVE show is a very wrong thing for anyone to do and shouldn't be allowed, or at the very least, there should be a notice in the advertising and the posters which says "All or Part of this show may be Mimed", so everyone can see what shameful fakers Britney and Jacko truly are....

But don't you get bored of trying to put your point across Rob? Hate to say this Rob but you really are a bit of a grump with not much of a sense of humour!

it annoys me when idiots like 'scherz' barge in giving his tuppence worth WITHOUT reading the thread beforehand which forces a repeat of points already made, but apart from that...no.

course im an old grump, its what i do.... humour? on buzzjack?....

as for the language being used....

sorry kiddies but some of us can debate and argue by using mildy offensive language... me n scott do it all the time to eachother, but we dont take it personally, its just words ffs.. maybe its our rock/punk roots that gives us the power to distinguish between harder language and deliberate insults.

  • Author
nope...thats NOT the point, its not what we are actually saying..

1) i am not a britney hater, scott said he isnt, we are MIME haters.

2) we are saying that you shouldnt be endorsing her fakery as its lowering the standard of musical credibility.

does that matter?...well yes it does! because without real talented artists there will be no talent! singing is an art form, it is a talent, its a virtue to be able to perform live.

if she sang live then nobody could knock it.. even though some of us dont like it

hell, me, scott, richard, have all been very critical of the manufactured (fake) side of the saturdays but credit where its due...they perform live.

One of the most sensible things anyone has posted in this thread... I absolutey despise The Saturdays, but I give em credit for NOT FAKING their live shows (it's about all I give them credit for, but still.... ).. Whether I like an act or not is neither here nor there, I will give ANYONE credit for going up there and doing their thing live, whether it's my own particular cup of tea or not... What I have absolutely ZERO tolerance for is acts who fake their shows, and I wouldn't care if is was the most manufactured of manufactured acts or the most "credible" of Avant Garde songwriters doing it, the standard I have is exactly the same.... I've slagged off a LOT of Rock bands for relying too much on Playback DAT and a lot of EBM/Synthpop bands for pretty much doing the whole music part of their set from a sodding Laptop (and, yes, actually to their faces if I saw then wandering around the bar after their set....), it's like, "Jesus, guys, just get ANOTHER keyboard player ffs....." My criticisms must've stung VNV Nation somewhat, because about a year after I slagged off their singer in person for being a "Great band on CD but a cheap, crappy Playback band live", they went from one tour where they only had two members, to their next tour where they had four guys on stage - a live drummer and second synth player.....  And, funnily enough, they sound a lot better now....

I would actually like to ask the Britney defenders this one question - would you defend the "right" of a group or band to mime if it was an act you didn't like...? Cos I basically just think you're all giving Brit a free ride when you probably wouldn't be so tolerant of another act doing it..... And I repeat - I notice that practically NOBODY is defending Jacko......

That's pretty much it, me and my mates are all the time saying stuff like "shut up you daft b/astard" and so on down the pub  , it's just the banter innit....? As far as I'm concerned though, when the likes of Ty tell me to "shut the fukk up", then as far as I'm concerned the gloves are off (especially considering that I wasn't even replying to him anyway, it was a reply to Andrew)..... I've been reasonably diplomatic with the likes of Dinno and Andrew because I basically think they've got intelligent things to say.... I'll just have to try and remember that Bert For Lashes is a bit more sensitive and delicate.....

She puts on a circus show, that's what is being advertised. It does not say "Britney Spears : Live in Concert", it's promoted as "The Circus Starring: Britney Spears".

Oh, well, so she doesn't explicitly advertise it as a "Live Concert", that's perfectly alright then, eh....?? Tell you what, howabout we actually go around and say to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh that it's perfectly acceptable for THEM to have miming in their West End Musicals because they're not specifically called "live concerts".....

So, no point in looking for the next Sarah Brightman or Michael Crawford then for "Phantom of the Opera", we'll just get a couple of pretty people who "look nice", whether they can actually sing or not is irrelevant... We'll just stick the Brightman/Crawford CD on and tell them to mime the entire show..... Brilliant really... I just wonder why Lloyd Webber never thought of that one.... Oh, I know why, because the guy actually has SOME standards and doesn't feel that shortchanging his punters is actually ethical...... <_<

And, while we're at it, we'll just say to Jason Donovan that it's okay for him to mime every night in "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and it's okay for Jerry Springer to mime his part in "Chicago"....

Ridiculous argument..... -_-

thats it in a nutshell.... thats what we do... me thinks the kids on here are too fcukin soft, they ought to switch off their pc's and get some real life mates and rock n roll a bit.

but thats too much to expect from mime artist supporters <_<

Totally... They should get down some REAL pubs, meet some REAL people and have some REAL conversations....

And, maybe, while they're at it, see some REAL bands playing some REAL music.....

Here's my 2 cents.

I would be furious if I went to a concert and the singer claimed to be live but it was all mimed. Thankfully Britney seems pretty open that she mimes so I know exactly what I'm buying for when I go see her (on Sunday). I don't really wanna sit and listen to her singing out of breath and off key on all her songs so I'm not fussed too much. I know she's miming so I'm not going to be dissapointed because I know whats coming. (I'm more there for Ciara tbh LOL).

I do agree with the others though that her dancing isn't enough to warrant miming to be honest (from the youtube clips). I've seen clips of Ciara singing and dancing just as much as Britney if not more, and that's only the support act.

Also I think Britney's confidence took SUCH a knock during her meltdown era that it's going to be a while before she wants to sing in public, no it's not an excuse but there was a time where she was barely dancing NOR singing live (VMA), so I think a few years down the line she'll be singing live and dancing too... or I hope.

but this begs the question... if she cant sing live, wtf is she doing in this career? if her material relies on computer gimickery then surely her material is weak... or fake even.. either way you will be seeing a fake performer perform fake music.... i find that prospect utterly horrendous!

shes taking the p***, you know shes taking the p***, and you are happy to let her take the p***? ... how utterly bizarre!

god... just imagine where youth culture is heading... its becoming increasingly 'virtual', the acceptance of a virtual pop star miming to virtual music whilst taking real money out of the audiences pockets

thank fcuk im old enough to have been part of the vibrant times in the past where creativity ruled ... and music was ALL 'real'.

Are you kidding me?!

I have better things to do with my time than go back and read everything posted.

I'm sorry I don't have as much free time as you!

Britney has performed live in the past and sounded fine so we know she can sing, plus I think Britney falls into the catorgory of Entertainer moreso than singer. I know she may not entertain everyone (who does?) but she does put on a good show from what I've seen.

I haven't been yet though so we'll see what I think when I'm there and it's all happening.

Ridiculous argument..... -_-

I could argue any point and you'd call it ridiculous.

You're just impossible to "debate" with, because you're not willing to accept other people's opinions.

....... then dont wade in gobbing off about a subject that you havnt researched! besides your points were totally invallied, its like you couldnt be arsed to read through so you ASSUMED what the discussion was about.... now either way, thats pretty stupid.

if hes impossible to debate with its because his brainpower and thus his ability to debate a topic is stronger then yours. i have no problem! :P

I didn't assume, I replied to the post before me?

Why would I want to research anything before putting my point across?!

My point won't ever be changed, so I wouldn't waste my time.

Why can't you just accept that people are happy to see her mime?

I could understand if you'd been to see her and were furious that you were ripped off, but this isn't the case.

I'm not making a contribution, because I don't want to be repeating what everyone else has said or anything, but I'll say that this is the most hilarious [verging on ridiculous] thread I've read on here. Ever.

you appeared to 'assume', because you admitted that you cba to read the thread and the points you made had been covered.

it is a pretty stupid thing to do isnt it? posting a comment without understanding where the discussion had got to...

your point wont ever be changed?... but isnt that what you just accused grimly of?

the reasons we are anti-miming are very well documented throughout this thread...ooops you did it again ()

, but I'll say that this is the most hilarious [verging on ridiculous] thread I've read on here. Ever.

if that was true then the rest of this site is in a VERY bad way.....
