Sorry it went platinum this week...

Credibility? P!nk hasnt achieved half of britneys success, credibility never sold or broke more records!

Buzzing: Pinks album aint even gone platinum un USA yet and its been out sinse October...Brits on her way to double platinum and Circus is only out sinse December....So that aint true about album sales being stronger on Pinks side!

Also britney only origianally announced about 45 dates and now were on 60...the tour is being extended trough aisa and Austraila towards the end of the year..and its the biggest gross tour of the year so far!

I'm afraid you've been misinformed... Funhouse IS platinum in the US. It's sold 1,095,000. However I do believe the statement was about the biggest popstar 'in the world' and globally Funhouse has outsold Circus in terms of sales AND tickets. It's on roughly 3.5 million to date (with the third single only just impacting in the US) whereas Circus is on approximately 3 million (third single gone). I wouldn't say Circus is 'on its way' to double-platinum either; it's on 1,553,000, and currently way down at #89 lol.

With Funhouse being release almost 2 months prior circus with endless promotion and 1 MASSSIVE 1st single the album should have shifted alot more that a mere 1 million after nearly 7 months!

Yes, but Circus was released at Christmas when sales are double, triple what they usually are. Either way P!nk has been a consistent seller, is about to get a third top 30 (at least) hit single from the album and is still in the top 40 so she's hardly done yet. She'll easily wind up with over 1.5 million or more there. Either way she's had an exceptionally hard slog to get American back on side after radio completely abandoned her during the Try This era for no apparent reason so 1.1 million sold to date is a huge success.

Pink may not have achived as much as britney or sold as much as her. But people still take her waaaay more seriosuly as a "Vocalist" and songwriter than they will ever take britney.Britney seems like a manufatrued "Pop Product" to the general people outside her fan base.

Pink on the other hand seem more real in her music and way more mature too as as well as xtina.

I agree with silver rocket i think britney gets away with murder anyone else would get slated and i mean slated if they delivered a lip sycnhing tour like britney...what other artists go on tour and dont sing live? where is the talent and even in recording terms if the voice even britneys or is all just computer work?
Pink has alot of credibility to her name a lot more than britney will have and Pink in a way is opposite to britney as in britney peaked very early in her career in sales wise for example where as pink developed and grew and each album went bigger and bigger as did each tour

Exactly. I like some of Britney's songs but Britney herself is effectively a blank canvas for other people to work their magic. To even BEGIN to compare Britney to P!nk is just laughable to be honest.

-Global Sales: 3.5 million Britney spears Circus

I'd be very interested to know where that figure has come from... in the US, UK and Japan combined she's on 2m. 200k from France and Germany combined, 100k from Australia and NZ. Realistically she's on 3m very max.

At the end of the day, she ain't killing anybody ... and the people who do have a problem with it are those who are even not attending the shows, hey !

Just give the people attending the show a rest, and don't bully them if they want to pay for a show where live singing is pretty rare.

After all, it's like when you go to see David Guetta or Fedde le Grand, you don't expect them to actually sing the tracks, you go there for the fun, the atmosphere and the overall set up of the show. Is it that hard to accept that some people can enjoy it for what it is ?

Because I and others (Scott (Grimly), (MushyMan)Rob, and others have said, this practice of miming in live concert was severely throwned upon two decades ago and was career destroying if acts were found out to be "faking it".

Great to see the great and always entertaining Alice Cooper (now he knew how to put on a show in the 1970s) come out today to be the latest act to criticise her and other artists who think miming in concert is acceptable.

So why the hell should it be acceptable now especially as music technology has got better than ever. There just simply is no excuse whatsoever.

As for Britney fans making excuses for their artist by saying well she can't sing and dance at the same time. Well personally I think that it is totally feeble excuse. Several pop acts in the past have perfectly been able to put on a great spectacle, whilst dancing and still manage a decent attempt at singing. So why is it OK for Britney Spears not to do it.

Kate Bush - Them Heavy People (1979 Live)

Madonna - Into the Groove (1987 Live)

Prince - I Would Die 4 U (1985 Live)

Janet Jackson - The Pleasure Principle (1990 Live)

Still in the year of the biggest new popstar an artist with style AND substance (Lady GaGa) has come on to the scene and has raised the bar in modern 21st century pop music, perhaps the biggest question that should be asked is why are people still happy to pay out big bucks to see a rubbish female Milli Vanilli tribute act like Britney Spears; when there are so many other good pop acts around today who do put on a great spectacle and do sing live (P!nk; Xtina; Beyonce; The GaGa; etc)?

Maybe Britney Spears should do an advert like this:

Or better still maybe Simon Cowell should get Britney to front Susan Boyle's forthcoming promo.

-Global Sales: 3.5 million Britney spears Circus

She's JUST about at 3million world wide give or take a bit. Pink is at about 3.5million and still high on pretty much all major markets album charts, wheras Britney's is dying pretty quick now, Radar certainly won't be pushing it back up either.

I'm not trying to downplay Britney's success at all but to say at this moment in time she's more successful than Pink is a bit insane.

Anyway the sales don't matter, that's not what this debate is about. Anybody can see that P!nk is a true artist so even if she wasn't the biggest pop (not R&B or country) artist in the world today - which she is - then she'd still own most other people in the game.

Pink has alot of credibility to her name a lot more than britney will have and Pink in a way is opposite to britney as in britney peaked very early in her career in sales wise for example where as pink developed and grew and each album went bigger and bigger as did each tour

True again. After Try This didn't do great she was written off by some and had to work damn hard to get her success back. I'm Not Dead was a huge success which got her back on the map and it's fair to say Funhouse has actually permanently cemented her as a HUGE name.

all that credibility crap....britney is still breaking records, selling albums, arena..and Circus era is her most Successful sinse BOMT....

the only reason she aint sold as much now is because of Illegal Downloading-same with every artist..no1 is going to sell what they did 10 yrs ago!

lol, here is so many jelous bitchy britney anti fans, i can only laught on comments. the real thing is, britney doesn't have best voice in the world, but she have everything what people wanna see of some pop star. she is sexy, she is cute, she is great dancer, she is nice person and good singer. and that is why people love her.

Why has this turned into a Britney vs. other pop stars thread.

I said she was one of the biggest pop stars in the world, and that is totally true. I wasn't dissing P!nk or Beyonce. And like I said we can continue to argue about this, but what's the point.

Oh and Britney has had three top 20 hits off Circus, Womanizer going #1, Circus going #3, and IYSA going #19. So Britney has done better then Pink in the US. Beyonce has done better because she has released 6 singles here already, while Britney and Pink are still on their third.

not to mention she's had all 5 albums in the top 10 in the uk this week :heehee:

To me, I dont really care who sold what and where, where a single or album gets in the charts etc. Yes I know that if Pink didnt do well in the charts she wouldnt be as big as she is now etc and of course I think its fantastic when Pink gets to number 1, but even if she got to number 101 it wouldnt bother me, because I love her for the music, the experience of the gigs that I've been to, her personality her humour, the hard work that she puts into her career, i could go on and on  but what I'm basically saying is, charts and sales are just numbers to me, and people who get caught up saying things like, 'well they sold x amount more so they must be better.....' just makes me roll my eyes. (please not i am not directing that at anybody in this thread, i respect people's opinions and while reading this thread it has reminded me of a conversation i was having with someone about aerosmith and bon jovi and how jovi must be better because they sell more in the uk  )

I have seen Pink a total of 10 times so far, I have another 3 gigs lined up for when she comes back to europe and when she is touring with the next album I am going to go to see her in australia :cheer:

Please tell me what record shes broken recently? Pink certainly is in AUS, every chart record they've ever had she's smashed.

Selling albums? So is Pink

Selling arenas? So is Pink
