June 18, 200916 yr Actually the Saturday was intended to be a pale copy of Girls Aloud. They kind of tried to steal their fanbase, they try do dress like them, etc. It's pretty much obvious. This group sounds very different to me, and is nothing like The Saturdays. Same type of promotion ? Well, yeah, they have the same label than The Saturdays, just as The Saturdays have the same label than Girls Aloud, and then ? And I don't mind if we have 4 or 5 girl groups in the industry at the same time, I mean, how many rnb singers or rock bands do we have? Much more... Tried to steal their fanbase? How ridiculous. Why would Fascination want them to steal their biggest group's fanbase? They dress like girls their age dress; it's hardly an intention to dress just like GA who I wouldn't say had a "look" or anything unique about how they dress anyway. If you think Sats are a pale copy of GA, then GCC are a pale copy of a pale copy.
June 18, 200916 yr Video's allright. Love the song though! Must every other post be some stupid comparisment to the The Saturdays though!

I remember receiving Sats newsletters cause I was registered to Girls Aloud website, not to talk about the massive campaign on the GA tour where we could hear "If this is love" all the time prior the show and adverts for the download text thing and stuff. Girls Can't Catch's look and attitude is completely different to The Saturdays ... How could 3 three strong female vocalists with a indie cool look could be a pale copy of 5 girls with a stylish girlish look ? If we have to tell who's a pale copy of who, TS are definetely a pale coy of GA. Edited June 18, 200916 yr by Bert for Lashes

They're clearly trying to tap into that fanbase too and there's nothing wrong with that but at least acknowledge it. Going by this one song alone, Phoebe was the only one who stood out as a strong vocalist to me. Unless the other two were holding back in this song. I fail to see how they have an indie look either although I'm no fashion expert admittedly. I really have nothing against them personally, I just don't understand the hype around this one song. And I think it's funny that those who criticised the Sats for "ripping off" GA can be fans of these who have been made in the exact same formula with just two less members. June 18, 200916 yr Basically the sound of Keep Your Head Up is a little less kiddy-pop than that of the Saturdays. I can't say what GCC's other songs sound like yet but they're clearly being marketed as a modern day All Saints/early-Sugababes-y type group as opposed to a GA or Saturdays clone.

They purposely worked with different producers to give them different sounds. I recall being sat at the Girls Aloud concert not 3 weeks ago, with Keep Your Head Up adverts being played non-stop.. so they're getting the same treatment. And they were hardly going to style them exactly the same as The Saturdays, that would be stupid. The Saturdays were styled nothing like Girls Aloud. The individual colour tights with black dresses was genius and Girls Aloud had never done that. They're all girls, so obviously, sometimes their styles are going to cross over. If you're being picky about things, Una's costume on the GA tour looks similar to what GCC were wearing on this years GA tour. IMO they're trying to make GCC, like the indie/moody girlband and The Saturdays, the more happy/glam girlband but not pit them against each other. You'll find that GCC are releasing when The Saturdays are going on their short break to do the second album. That being said, I love both bands, so I'm happy for them both be successful.

That's exactly my point, thanks ;) GCC = 3 girls, indie/moody girlband Sats = 5 girls, glam girlband (does it not remind you some other famous girlband ??) I agree with what Jark said too. Pussycat Dolls are a happy/glam fivepiece girlband You wouldn't say The Saturdays were copying them, would you? & I was still posting when Jark put that. But I'm glad we're all in agreement ;)
June 18, 200916 yr How anyone can say GCC are indie is beyond my belief. They are not remotely indie looking or sounding. And with TS dressing the same as GA, they really don't and anyway is it a crime for girls to look fashionable. Let's face it GCC are marketed towards the same people as TS and TS are marketed to the same people as GA. It doesn't make them 'pale' copy of anyone. TBH i would have liked GCC to be a four piece girl group with music in the same vein as All Saints but with a modern twist. My only worry is that if facsination continue to bring new girl groups every year we will have a girl group overload and soon we will be left with just one girl group, which would obviously be Sugababes as Girls Aloud won't be round a long time after they get back together after solo work, Destiny's Child style.

The idea that this three-piece is a pale copy of the Saturdays, is so laughable it is pathetic. For starters this debut single is vastly superior to anything the Saturdays have released so far.
June 18, 200916 yr What a load of twonk. Girls Aloud and The Saturdays sound nothing alike. They purposely worked with different producers to give them different sounds. True. Which is why most original Girls Aloud singles are brilliant examples of the pop genre; whereas the Saturdays ... are not IMHO. The Saturdays were styled nothing like Girls Aloud. The individual colour tights with black dresses was genius and Girls Aloud had never done that. Like the symbolic names/colour coordination thing that the Spice Girls did at the beginning of their career. Except the Spice Girls did not look like they had come from a game of Cluedo.

For starters this debut single is vastly superior to anything the Saturdays have released so far. It doesn't come close to 'Up' as a pop gem for me. I listened to this the other day and it didn't do much for me, but when I saw the video it did, the chorus is very catchy and it has a nice sophisticated sound to it.

Does it really matter? Girls Aloud fanbase can like The Saturdays too ^_^ Edit: As for the song/video/group  umm I quite like them ^_^ I really like the blonde girl, at GA she really looked like Charlotte Church  the songs pretty catchy actually. I hope they release that "Turn Me Up" song next though as that sounds much better. Edited June 18, 200916 yr by Simon.

As long as Dolly Rockers dont enter my list I'm content :kink:
June 18, 200916 yr CROQUET  I am now officially in love with these three generic women, especially the blonde one.
