July 16, 200916 yr Don't give up on "Obsessed" yet! It's still gaining at Urban and Rhythmic and there's much potential for this to take off on Pop. It's her highest Hot 100 debut since 1998.

July 22, 200915 yr It has literally NO burn factor whatsoever, for me anyway. I've listened to "Obsessed" hundreds of times now and it's still not boring. It's the killer MC lyrics. I'm glad this song is starting to show signs of life. It's amazing how quickly people like to label a track as "FLOP" before it starts to take off.
July 22, 200915 yr I know what you mean AAC but I think everyone was expecting a Touch My Body-esque smash hit #1 straight off the bat (me included)... However, I agree with you both, I have played it hundreds of times too and i'm not anywhere near done with it yet. ^_^
July 22, 200915 yr The reason "Touch My Body" was a "quick" hit was because they repressed the song, meaning it was sent to U.S. radio in mid-February and wasn't available to purchase until late March. It gave "TMB" a chance to rise on airplay (which it did pretty quickly) so the first week sales would be impressive. That's why "Obsessed" has not been as successful (yet), as at the time of it's release it hadn't been given the chance to reach a mass audience. "Touch My Body" was also released to radio on the back of a hugely sucessful era ("TEOM"). A drop in sales was to be expected this week, as the song is still taking off on radio.

July 22, 200915 yr Like AAC said, the reason that Touch My Body was such a big hit on both radio and downloads was that it was coming after her biggest album in a decade; there was SO much anticipation. As it happened the song received very mixed feedback and a year later isn't considered by most to be all that great. Obsessed on the other hand is coming a mere year after her last album under-performed; there's barely been time for any hype to build. It is however getting a better reception across the internet than Touch My Body did which is a good indicator that, in time, it'll be a big hit. As for the download sales so far, disappointing, yep, but again as AAC said it's because pop radio have yet to embrace it. Once they do it'll take off in a fairly major way. It's stabilised now too; after going as low as #22 a couple of days back it's currently bobbing between #18 and #20, plus the remix is sitting just outside of the top 120 which will add to its tally next week when I expect it'll climb. In short, don't worry just yet Kelly. :P Mariah has a headstart when it comes to getting hits anyway just because she's Mariah Carey, so when she has a brilliant single it's fairly likely to explode, it may just take time.
