This Brummie based act spearheaded the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement of the late 1970s/early 1980s.

Were you fans of this hard rock outfit or do you think they will remain being most remembered for the subliminal message trial and being the inspiration for the ropey Rockstar movie?

Another bunch that passed me by, guess I was more into the new romantics and electronic sound to get into them.

agreed, plus they were pretty lightweight compared to their forerunners...sabbath/purple/zep etc.

i dont regard them as much 'heavier' then busted!

I saw these guys live this year and they were awesome - a superb stage-show, flawless musicianship and a huge number of songs to get the crowd singing along. They've been a bit hit-and-miss over the years, but when they are at their best, they can produce some of the best metal songs of all-time.

Mushymanrob, if you don't regard them as heavier than Busted, I suggest you check out the Painkiller album, and in particular the title track. Blisteringly fast drums, intricate dual-guitar lines and venomous vocals - metal at its finest.

tongue in cheek m8....

Even if the comparison to Busted was, I think your comment about them being lightweight was meant earnestly. And while they did release a lot of average material, albums like Painkiller show that they could hang with the best of the metal acts.

yes that was meant earnestly, I considered them second rate , lightweight, almost a comic parody of metal acts...compared to sabbath, purple, etc etc..

As a 'metal head' i never understood how Priest got so popular, compared to other british metal bands like Sabbath and Maiden they are very dull. I personally only like a few songs.
