Great opener, but I'm with Rooney in that I didn't particularly enjoy the opening scene; it felt like Sookie landed in the midde of a Syfy movie-of-the-week or something. The rest of the episode made up for it though; Fiona Shaw in particular is wonderfully batty as the head of the witch convent and Pam continues to steal every scene she's in. Ball made a big fuss about Jason's storyline this season, so I hope it picks up a bit there, otherwise I'm pretty happy with where everything is going, although I fear they're still juggling more than they can handle. I'm also guilty of swooning a bit at the end scene with Eric and Sookie. SWOON.

Also I have a link for Episode 2 so if anyone wants...!

Could you send me the link please, I would be greatful! ^_^

After watching the second episode I agree that the time jump was needed. You definitely notice how the characters have evolved since Season 3 like Jessica is a lot more independent and confident about being a vampire. With the second episode it was nice to see

Queen Sophie Anne somewhat returning quite sad that she's gone now :'/

The plot is moving a lot quicker this season.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I cannot cope without Evan Rachel Wood.

^I know haha :'/ I genuinely felt slightly depressed after D:

Ratings news:

The much-anticipated Season 4 premiere of True Blood bit into one of the HBO series’ biggest audiences ever, drawing 5.42 million total viewers on Sunday night, TVByTheNumbers reports. The show’s all-time record of 5.44 million was set by the penultimate episode of Season 3. Demo numbers for the TB opener have not yet been made available.
Wasn't really keen on this it all felt a bit slow and as if nothing much really happened. Though that witches facial expressions during the possession of whatever it was had me in stitches! Hope it starts to get a bit more fast paced.

Can I just say right now that Arlene is some almighty dumbass.

What the hell was up with Jessica at the start too? :o

I think the first two episodes have been pretty fast paced myself, and the witches and specifically Marnie are going to make great villains. The only storyline I find dull is Sam's, and he also had the most boring subplot in the whole of Season Three; I guess he will never get another storyline as good as the Maryann one or his reveal as a shapeshifter. I think the big problem for the first few episodes is that the teasers have shown quite a bit, so cliffhangers like Episode 1 & 2 aren't particularly effective as we know the outcome and there is no threat, and the Jason cliffhanger in Episode 1 wasn't shocking because we knew he would be held hostage and tied to a bed eventually, we were just waiting for it to happen. I've got to say on that front, Crystal isn't exactly likeable, if they follow the books,

I don't know why the hell Jason ends up marrying her .

And I do have to agree with the sentiment that it's sad to see

Queen Sophie Anne

go. She was a terrific character, but at least we get to see

Evan Rachel Wood in Mildred Pierce.

Sabrewulf, while Arlene is a bit neurotic, have you seen that baby; it clearly is the antichrist or something  and she has a reason to be freaked out after all those premonitions she had last season.

And thanks for the link Joao ^_^

Was just watching the second episode and your message about Queen Sophie Anne (I didn't know it was her then because I didn't look at the spoiler). I was terrified like crazy the whole episode that Jessica was going to die.

I still think Arlene is overreacting though, plus of course the show wants you to think the baby is evil so it'll fit the scene. I'm pretty sure Arlene is just a nutter in the end.

I swear if the baby starts twisting it's head round the whole way I'm not watching anymore True Blood. :drama:

haha sorry I panicked you! There are a couple of theories floating around about the baby that either 1) He has the "evil eyes" which allows someone to kill another person by just looking at them

, which makes sense with what we've seen so far

, or 2) He is being possessed by Rene's spirit thanks to Marnie's attempts at trying to contact the dead. Both could work, but either way there's definitely something not right with the baby; the way the show built the storyline up and the way they portray the baby scenes makes it clear. The fact that it was Mikey that cut Arlene's eye is all the proof we need.

I think theory 2 would work best, because then Arlene is both right and wrong; right in that there's something wrong with the baby, but wrong in believing that the baby himself is evil. I guess that could also apply to theory 1 if they played it that the baby isn't evil, it just has an evil power. This is probably one of the most intriguing storylines True Blood has at the moment tbh.

^Sorry I had to add a spoiler as it applied to episode 2 and I'm not sure if people have seen it or not so just in case haha
Really enjoyed the second episode. It kept me on the edge of my seat for most of it! I'm just wondering what Marnie actually did to Eric. Really looking forward to the third episode. :D
Does anyone know if Episode 3 was made available on HBO GO? If not I shall rewatch the new episode tonight and give my thoughts tomorrow :D

Arlene cut her eye? When did that happen? Also I don't see how the first theory makes sense....

the baby hasn't killed anyone yet

I'm still inclined to think the baby isn't evil and this is just some story arc to cause Arlene to go completely insane herself.

and possible end up doing the things she does in the book

Arlene is easily the character in true blood I'd be least likely to listen to if they had something "important" to say. She has a bit of a screw loose.

Bit disgusted with

Jessica glamouring Hoyt. I don't want her to keep glamouring him and turn him into a cabbage. :( It seems like that's where they're heading with this.

Sabre just so you know this is a US pace thread so if it's aired in the US then you don't have to worry about spoiler tags ;)

Loved 4.03 really getting into this season now.

Eric with amnesia was quite funny to watch

Are you sure? I've been told to put everything in spoilers before.

If it's a US pace thread like this one then it's fine, whoever told you otherwise was misinformed.

This episode was the first episode in a while that I've actually laughed out loud, on numerous occasions. I'm really enjoying this series and PAM 4EVER!!!1 <3 <3

When Arlene looked into her baby's eyes, it was suddenly cut out of the blue, and I think the theory is that because he's a baby his evil eye is not powerful enough to kill yet, which is why Arlene only had her eye cut. It seems plausible enough to me.

Also, Alan Ball said next episode we will start to see the development of an unlikely love relationship form between two characters

and people seem to think it will be Tara and Pam; late in the book series Pam does form a relationship with Sookie's witch roomate Amelia and apparently Tara will peform that function. When she tells Lafayette, Jesus and Tara that she would eat, f*** and kill them if they don't bring Marnie to her Tara smiled. I haven't double checked yet to see if that's true.

And Pam is one of my favourite TV characters ever, she steals every scene she's in.
