June 19, 200916 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date June 19 In one of those rare news, Lady Gaga manages to return to the top of the German singles charts (WHY???) after being replaced there by superstar Daniel Schuhmacher for three weeks. I personally don't remember such a thing to have happened recently and having in mind how old "Poker Face" is and that it has already been for 11th weeks at the top, it is quite a surprising thing. It is more typical for a song to return to the top after a week absence there, but after three, it may be considered a real feat. The next big news is the 10-2 movement of Emiliana Torrini's "Jungle Drum", which is enjoying a considerable momentum right now, and is still only on downloads... The prospects before the wonderful "Stadt", the latest from Cassandra Steen, are also quite good as the song is up 4 places to #4 in its second week in the chart. It is now Steen's best performing song, both solo and as part of Glashaus. Unlike last week, when the big new entries came from female stars, this week the guys are back with the three highest new entries belonging to male rock groups. First of all, I'm glad to see that the latest single of Canadian band Billy Talent becomes their most successful song and first top 20 entry ever by coming in at #14. The guys so far has had three top 50 hits in Germany, all coming from their previous album Billy Talent II, with "Red Flag" peaking at #34. The new song is taken from the forthcoming Billy Talent III LP. Next at #22 we find German band Reamonn, who is rather consistent in making top 30 hits in the country. "Moments Like This" is the third single from their self-titled album and if you ask me the best so far from it. Though it's not so strange to see the third single from Die Toten Hosen's last album entering at #38, it is somehow a disappointment after the first two songs taken out from In aller Stille managed to enter the top 10. It's a beautiful song though. The next new entries can be found at #44 and #45, with newcomer Lenka and chart veteran Shaggy, respective. And while Lenka deserves to be much higher in the chart, the lacklustre offering of Shaggy should have remained outside the top 50. And last I think that having in mind the support by VIVA, Berlin band Bosshoss has expected their latest offering "Last Day" to finally be their breakthrough song. Unfortunately it manages to chart at #78 in its first full week of release. Edited June 19, 200916 yr by YanBG
