First playing together in the basement of a friend's barbershop, they blended traditional folk rock and punk rock known as Celtic punk. Their influences include Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, The Clash, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, and the Swingin' Utters. The band has made a name for itself and built a following as a result of their non-stop touring all over the world and their famous St. Patrick's Day weekend shows, which are held in and around Boston. Dropkick Murphys is known for supporting trade unions and the working class. It was released with a DVD, which contained live videos for "Rocky Road to Dublin" and "Boys on the Dock", a music video for "Gonna Be a Blackout Tonight", and a trailer for their then upcoming untitled full-length DVD, which became On The Road With The Dropkick Murphys. The album was released in a condensed format on 10" vinyl. It had 5 songs from the album as well as a cover of AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" which was later released on Singles Collection, Volume 2.
