why are you leaving Martin :o

The competition has just got bigger, and Indie tracks are going to suffer I can't keep up with all the pop and R&B stuff, as everyone will be voting for them more than anything, I was surprised Lovers Electric did not pass semi final stage.

On top of that, Girls Can't Catch :puke2: seriously Phil what are you thinking off... here comes the backlash :heehee:

I've found that more alternative tracks have started to do a lot better these days as more 'indie voters' have joined up, think back to BJSCX, loads of them did well...

maybe people just didn't like Lovers Electric :(

JRKoff unreserve Pony Pony Run Run, reserve Christina Aguilera. :D

Land Of Jack have Vanessa reserved

don't you want to reserve the artist behind the song that you have found though, you don't want anybody else nicking it :P

I don't think anybody in their right mind would enter what I'm entering. But I'll reserve it just in case. :P

Espen: Elsiane

If this Tricky "Umbrella, Case Of The Ex, Single Ladies, Touch My Body, Me Against the Music, ..." Stewart produced track single "Mind Control" leaks in time, it will still be less expensive than a debut single by a girl group which have already got 15,000+ and rising fast advance orders.

amazing choice quite frankly :o  if it fails to make the final I'll add another 50 points to it's score and hope nobody notices be extremely shocked

I'm so disappointed. I really thought by now most people would have grown up and realised that sending big artists with the latest leaks really isn't the way forward with this contest...seriously, can anybody actually tell me what it achieves? And don't give me that bull$h!t about 'I'm just sending what I love' - I love Umbrella to pieces yet I wouldn't bloody send it because it's pointless! And examples such as Owl City and Beautiful Small Machines just prove that fantastic discoveries are out there to be made, so why do people bother going down the uninspired route?

Phil, I really hope you aren't sending Girls Can't Catch as that would be supreme hypocrisy up there with Nonsuch's u-turn on the contest...

Sod it, I can't be bothered to hang around until the Confirmation thread opens:

Warning: The Song got banned by the BBC (well done to Radio 2's Jonathan Ross for having the balls to play this hugely ironic/flippant song and getting into trouble for it) and all other UK radio broadcasters for "making light of rape, religion, and abortion."

& the suitably hilarious Tim Pope directed video similarly got banned by all UK video channels.

Nonsuch entry:

Amanda Palmer - Oasis

Oh, and can Kopecka unreserve Hannah and reserve Luciana of Yeah Yeah/Come On Girl/What Planet U On? fame plz
Which is why I have long advocated why certain artists and songs on the release schedule should be effectively embargoed or banned from being included in the contest.

And this is why through frustration I entered the choice I did in the last contest, even though I still genuinely think it was the best song in the last contest. However, it was pretty obvious that a handful of contestants snubbed the song on principle, instead of introducing a rule to save this contest from falling into disrepute which is what this whole concept is in danger of doing if no action is taken soon, so that the song could not be entered in the first place.

You still haven't said how exactly this rule you advocate would work without allowing for songs on the release schedule that aren't at all cheap...

Or allowing leaks which aren't on the release schedule? I do remember when having a go about why he sent Tinchy he said "those who voted for" and included both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, neither of who were on the release schedule at the time.

It could be a good rule in principle, but if you're going to suggest something you need to explain how it would work, rather than letting other people to do the dirty work and be the ones that cause the inevitable arguments!

:heehee: Was that aimed at me? I'm thinking so... either way Christina Aguilera certainly isn't my first choice. I'd send her song if it leaked in time, was phenomenol (another Umbrella/Fighter) and I had no other choices. So basically there's a 1% chance I'll be using her.

Am I being dim? Because you've lost me there TiP :P

did Never Leave You even appear on the release schedule though before the final of BJSCXVII? Bringing in propositions to shake up the rules to disallow songs on the release list is one thing, but in reality, there are far 'cheaper' songs than those on the release list that would still be allowed to be sent, i.e. a hypothetical near perfect Ryan Tedder penned fan favourite power ballad from the latest Leona Lewis album with no plans for a single release

I don't reckon we can ever ban any entries from the BJSC because the lines are too murky to decide what could and couldn't be classed as 'cheap' and what therefore should and shouldn't be allowed, eradicating the release schedule wouldn't solve that many problems in my opinion :o hence why we've had this reaction this time around of people reserving well known artists/artists with big hits around the corner, because it seems to be the only way to stop them being sent to the contest...
