BERGERAC pulled them in for John Nettles on Sunday BBC1. Bob Monkhouse returned to ITV after 6 years with BBC. The $64,000 DOLLAR QUESTION was back...a 50s gameshow orinally hosted by Jerry Desmond, and a bit of a flop for Bob`s ITV comeback, as contestants went into soundproof glass bowls to answer mind boggling questions. Roger Cook caused many a stir in "THE COOK REPORT". I seem to remember PRESCRITION: MURDER was an early COLUMBO episode. Weren`t the Americans rather bad at solving crime...even in Columbo you know who the murderer is, at the beginning of the show! MURDER AT THE VICARAGE gave BBC TV`s "Miss Marple", a repeat showing. If hadn`t been for Elton, Pavarotti would have taken it, with the BBC theme for the 1990 World Cup! Craig McClachlan stepped away from the Aussie soap world for a big old song. Thunderbirds were back, and wasn`t it F A B! The brilliant Stone Roses took over every cover of NME, and in a ideal world should have topped the chart. MC Hammer borrowed most of the music, from Rick James 1981 hit "SuperFreak"...but you couldn`t touch it! Roxette got 2 hits out of one, with "It Must Have Been Love" making the charts twice. Reggae served up by Maxi Priest. The World Cup finished, and England were beat...again! So, down went the EN-GER-LAND song! Proving New Order`s only #1. Snap nicked the rowing song a la The Gap Band, as "Oops Up Side Your Head" became "Oops Up"...a record that found it`s way on to the bonfire, here at Taylor Towers! By accident of course, a shame on it`s own. Why did I put "Stacey Dorning`s cover of "Catch A Falling Star" on there too? Maureen Walsh covered the Sister Sledge 1979/84 song. Double Trouble covered Rose Royce/Jimmy Nail/Madonna with "Love Don`t Live Here Anymore". The track that found it`s way on to "Now Dance 901". More nicked samples via MC Tunes and 808 State. Bob Geldof returned. I remember Bob, commenting on a hit by Patrick Hernandez "Born To Be Alive"...Bob said "The way he says, born..just make`s me want to smash his face in!" On hearing "Great Song Of Indifference", I wanted to do the same to Bob! The Beach Boys/Mamas And Papas connection continued with Wilson Phillips. Glen Madeiros teaming up with Bobby Brown? Rock from Poison. A re-issue with a Tony Blackburn record of the week from 1971, via Diana Ross. Janet Jackson was "Alright". Charity from Sonia/Big Fun. Betty Boo doing more than sample! Bobby Brown again...do a megamix of his hits. Re-makes via River City People and Bruce Dickinson. Blue Pearl took to the dancefloor and went "Naked In The Rain". I remember going to Slough in the Summer of 1990, and finished up "Knackered in the Rain", that was the closest I got!...A whole host of forgotten, unplayed since 1990 hits, even Jason Donovan, Inspiral Carpets, James, Yazz, Del Amitri, World Party, Boo Yaa Tribe (hip hop from California), Grid, Wendy And Lisa (Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman previously working with Prince), An Emotional Fish (alternative rock from Dublin), Tony Toni Tone (swing/r + b from California), Tackhead (originally members of the Sugarhill Gang, still playing today). Cool Down Zone (Diane Charlemagne and Tony Bowry, more soul/r + b. Better have a look at some of those on iTunes later...I think. I haven`t heard them for ages! July 3, 200916 yr Thanks Dave! Fantastic to see Benny Andersson Band in top 10 pre-orders.. I really hope it can go top 40!
July 3, 200916 yr Good to see Confessions Of A Shopaholic high. One of my fave movies this year pls. :(
July 3, 200916 yr Well who want`s to sit in a cinema I'm very sorry for sounding rude, but can I make a complaint about this shameful grammar? 's = possession (Harry's house, the dog's bone, the table's legs etc.) OR contractions (it is = it's, there is = there's and so on) s = verbs in some form which I can't remember the name of (wants, needs, kills etc.) OR simple plurals (plurals itself, dogs, terrorists, and so on) OR the possessive pronoun its meaning belonging to 'it' (its talons, its phone, its pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis etc.) Sorry, it just annoys me seeing apostrophes being misused. The Yeah You's officially have a sucky name purely because of that :P EDIT: Forgot this too: s' = possession of a group of people/things (e.g. the grandmothers' knitting needles means the knitting needles belonging to more than one grandmother, while the grandmother's is just belonging to one grandmother) Edited July 3, 200916 yr by B-rye
July 3, 200916 yr Oh and also good to see VV Brown so high on pre-orders! :o  Hopefully it's a good indication for next week!

I could brag about being the first person to say Cascada have their first #1, but my grammar has already let me down! Today, Cascada have surpassed the Mirror, by 2k. That`s 52k at this point. Michael will have 12 songs in the 40 on Sunday, because Bad will fall out...maybe Basement Jaxx or Empire Of The Sun will be back in. ABC might fall out of the 50, and Just Dance will be back. Beyonce still has her Halo at 53. As the top 75 suffers for the amount of the Jackson...Green Day, and Ciara bubble under. NOTE: These are not Official Charts (but then neither was Record Retailer in the 60s)! So who`s counting?! Our charts, are based on Chart Show tv (loosely), but with added sales for today, and no airplay. I think this would be the first time, since we started this Fri/Sat Chart, that we have had a different #1, to midweeks...Or maybe not as, I think there was some controversy over a Leona Lewis charity thing, last year. That one involved double A sides, or some nonsense! :P A special mention to B-rye...thanks for pointing out my bad grammar, I should know better. Tell you what mate...How about you doing the thread, one week?
The Yeah You's officially have a sucky name purely because of that :P EDIT: Forgot this too: s' = possession of a group of people/things (e.g. the grandmothers' knitting needles means the knitting needles belonging to more than one grandmother, while the grandmother's is just belonging to one grandmother) :cheer: a grammer lesson :kink: you forgot the s's rule (when a word ending in 's' and is one syllable, it's ok to add an apostrophy s e.g. James's not Jesus's) just thought i'd add that..:D Edited July 3, 200916 yr by CianS
