June 26, 200916 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 26.06 In one of the saddest weeks for the pop world ever, Lady Gaga remains for a 13th non-consecutive week atop the German charts. The only challenge comes from Cassandra Steen, who, however, fails to knock the Lady from the #1 position, despite the #4-#2 jump of "Stadt". Perhaps next week she will manage it. Finally, we have some fresh blood in the top 5, with the new entry of David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over" at #4. A perfect summer anthem and one of the most beautiful songs currently, the single quite deservingly becomes the biggest hit of the French DJ in Germany, beating with ease the #36 peak of "Love is Gone". Apart from "Dilemma", her duet with Nelly, and "Lose My Breath" with Destiny's Child, the single is also one of the most successful songs of Kelly Rowland in the country. It is great also to see that A-Ha manage to avert the downward trend of "Foot Of The Mountain", after the arrival of the album of the same name at #1 in the albums charts. Speaking of summer hits, the second new entry belongs to US rapper Pitbull, who similarly like Flo Rida, has made a catchy summer dance hit, and now is reaping the benefits as "I Know You Want Me” enters the countdown at #15. The next new entry comes from German band Silbermond, whose #1 “Irgendwas Bleibt” is still in the top 20. The follow-up “Ich bereue nichts” charts at #20, and though a good song (as all their songs actually), its timing is somewhat wrong as it has more a winter feeling. Neverthelless, a top 20 entry is not so bad after all. Confirming that they have a strong fanbase in Germany, the guys from Depeche Mode return to the chart with "Peace" at #25. The second single from the "Sounds of the Universe" comes after the top 3 smash "Wrong". This time the video is proper to be played on the music TV during the day, so I hope that can have a good impact on its performance. Though I will not be surprised to see the song outside the top 40 next week. Unfortunately, I was among of those who had no luck of seeing the band live as they cancelled their gig in Bulgaria but that's another story... Next, I think that Flo Rida will be disappointed from the lacklustre performance of the follow-up of his mega hit "Right Round" (this week #23). Despite that "Sugar" samples a #1 song, it fails to break the top 30 barrier in its entry this week... Still, most disappointed this week will be Jonas Brothers and their teen fans as the latest offering of the band, despite a lead single from a new album and despite being a good song (yes, I like it), enters at the miserable #65... It's a shame also to see Polarkreis 18 "Happy Go Lucky" so down in the chart and I advise all who have still not heard their album to do so, it's rather good! Edited June 26, 200916 yr by YanBG
June 27, 200916 yr (I really like your work with this chart Ben. It's very good! :) ) Germany sure is loving Poker Face!! Too bad Depeche Mode didn't peaked higher, but at least is better than in their homeland. Rob Thomas Her Diamonds only peaking at #79 is also disappointing

June 28, 200916 yr I think Depeche Mode wasn't higher because the album is already out and everyone has bought it by now. Well but that didn't stop all of their other singles since 1994 to go Top 20....
June 28, 200916 yr Author Well but that didn't stop all of their other singles since 1994 to go Top 20.... I think it has something to do also with the decline of physical sales too.
