Actress Mollie Sugden has died at the age of 86, her agent has said.

 

She died at the Royal Surrey Hospital after a long illness.

 

Sugden was best known for playing Mrs Slocombe in long-running BBC sitcom Are You Being Served?, a role later reprised for Grace and Favour.

 

The actress also appeared in The Liver Birds as Mrs Hutchinson Sandra's mother and also Annie Walker's friend, Nelly Harvey in Coronation Street.

Im only 20 and I remember the first time I sat down and watched this with my parents - not getting the joke about her cat till I was older, but yeah RIP

 

Do you notice, that Grace Bros Ladies Dept staff died in the same year?? Strange isn't it.......

:( What a shame, that show was so funny, I'm only 17 and I have one of the series on DVD
