Howard Donald has ruled out ever launching a solo career.

The Take That star, who penned an unreleased solo album after the group first disbanded in 1996, claimed that he would struggle without his bandmates.

"When the band split last time, I did record a solo album, but it's not really my vibe. Could my solo work compete with us as a band? I don't think so," he told New! magazine.

Meanwhile, singer Gary Barlow revealed that the group are hoping to crack the US market.

"We're getting a good response and good radio play, so who knows in the future?" he said.

Take That released new single 'Said It All' on June 20.

I don't know how they've concocted that together (all of it). I seriously doubt Howard would even think anyone would think he'd contemplate going solo! The only one who should (and only as a sideline for peace of his own mind and self-satisfaction) is Mark.

And as for the US bit! I'm sure if Robbie couldn't make it with all the backing he had ... Take That would have no chance (well I suppose they have had if you take into consideration BFG). I can't see Gary even believing it for a moment. I know Gary likes the States - but only to visit! I doubt they'll even tour Europe again so I'm certain North America is a definite no-no!

i was surprised to read about the american part but sometime syou never know, personnaly i cant see them even trying it, but i guess we will hear more of these plans if true, id love howards albumn that he recorded but didnt release i would just love to know what his musical direction was but i dont think any of us will ever get to hear it now.

I also ask myself about the story. First i see exactly Gary against all the USA . It takes time and a lot of risk, for him already a bitter deja vu. Agree that when Robbie didn't make it is hard to believe that TT would make it.

As for Howard planning solo: i see him as the most happy from all four to be in TT. He is happy doing his DJ-ing, which takes him also a lot of time.

I am only curious about Jason. I read a year ago that he planned some drama or book, or something like that.

Gary has already his hands full with work and i see that he enjoy to be a discoverer of new talents. Put also the songwriting and producing. Wow, when does he get time to see his children?

Mark should really do also something for his indie heart. It doesn't have to be big or released as CD, something to download would do also to keep happy him and a couple of loyal fans :cheer: .

The next year would be Robbie's year with his album coming right for Christmas boom (expect to sell at least a million!) and after that with a tour and promotion of the singles. If TT would release in the same time the papers would be very happy, but i think TT and Robbie are a little bit tired about it.

I know when they where in Germany the management told all the interviewers they are not allowed to ask about Robbie. And i think also J Ross had to do the same and that is why he played Angels  .

yai can see robbie being back with a bang next year and im sure we will have all the take that vs robbie thing all over again or robbie rejects take that re union non sense, next year i also think we will get a new mark solo album as he is keen to record some solo stuff which is great for him and the fans of his solo work, i hope the recent take that success helps mark have a little bit more solo sucess aswell/.

I think Rob's going to be in with a bang before next year. His new album is due out late Autumn so I believe - in time for the Christmas market. I'm pretty sure it'll sell a million by Christmas if so. It'll probably be the fastest album to reach the million sale mark (although personally I hope he doesn't beat Oasis's record). It is quite likely that he'll beat Take That's record from last year though. Good luck to him ... I just hope that when he is in the headlines again (from his own making) that the press give him the same bloody boring questions about a reunion ... see how he likes it.

I've got mixed feelings about Mark and solo stuff. I know he himself doesn't care about great success with it ... he'll got to do it for his own sake ... but I doubt it will be very successful commercially and then when/if Take That do come together for another album/tour the media will make a big thing of the 'not being able to go solo' story!

i think the media understand that mark isnt looking for huge success and in general those who set up their own label to release music dont have huge success so the press may not be to hard on him and the press seem to be unable to say a bad word about anyone in take that these days

It won't take much to get them started though. You watch .... towards the end of this year and early next year ... Rob will be the golden boy again and Take That will probably be in for a rough ride with the press. Its good copy!

it will heavily depend on what the press think of robbie;s album, id be shocked if robboe doesnt return with a great album as he knows how well take that have been recieved and robbie been robbie will not want to be outdone, personnaly id be happy for robbies album to flop if im totally honest

I appreciate your honesty ... and I agree! I think we're agreed though that it'll be a mega success - he's got some good people working with him and writing for/with him so I doubt he'd have anything less than excellent.

Seriously - I don't find Rob half so annoying lately ... I really think that girl he's going out with, Ayda, has been a fantastic influence on him ... he should have met her years ago ... maybe he'd have stopped being a selfish brat sooner.

But that is the curse of Mark anyway. Regardless what he makes he is in the shadow of something. Perhaps that is why he didn't release anything in the last years. Nasty words will be anytime...

Perhaps he should start without media anouncement, press release , presence in media. Just for the fans, through his site. Do some "secret " gigs - they are soooo fashionable today  . Let only insiders in. Make the other feel that it is something special. Underground. Make it to seem like a side project for a time. But i don't think Mark has the mastermind to protect himself. He haven't do it before, he exposed himself everytime. But he had other start at that moment, i hope his management learned also a lot through TT....

I hope that the media would realise what a power for the industry bands like TT are and let them in peace to be creative. It may be that Mark solo work is not for success, but he learned a lot doing it and gave him a personality responsible for 25 % of the success of the band.

They gave Gary the chance to flop with Britannia High without bringing it to much like that in their news, i hope they give also the chance for Mark to don't be successful with any work he does.

Lots of "hope", i know....

I can see if he will be respected as a creative force from the other three TT and get the opportunity from them and from Polydor to make songs he wants to do, that he will do not do soemthing big as solo....

I think the main success of mark;s solo career is the confidence it has given him in take that now, i think without all his solo work he wouldnt be what he is today and it has helped his song writing so so much aswell, i suppose for mark he gets to express a side of his music that he cant do in take that so by doing both he feels musically complete.
