I have been reading some things about her since I've read that her style of music is being compared to Enya's.

Direct quote from my research:

"...and her notable first review states that comparisons to Enya are inevitable."

Decide for yourself.

I'm surprised that I didn't hear about this sooner because apparently, Cadence's debut album was released in December of 2008.

Edit: Her album was released in 2009, that page I read was incorrect.

Seems much more like Moya's music than Enya's... Moya's lyrics are generally cleverer, though.

Apart from the vocal layers, her music really doesn't sound like Enya at all.

It's not bad, but doesn't really deserve the comparison.

That sounds like a song title... But it's true. Nothing can match the remarkable talent, grace, charm and general cuteness of Enya...

There wil ever be only one enya and i think no one will ever step into her market as she has a long term fanbase that stick by her, apart from enya, that style of music usually doesnt do that well.
Agreed, there's only one Enya, and, try as others might to emulate her style, it can't be done....
HI everyone this is Cadence Spalding. To be reviewed is an honor. I too love Enya, but I also love many styles of music. It is a personal shock to have been compared to the amazing Enya in many of my reviews, but know that I am my own artist and my music is truly my own vision. I have enjoyed singing in choirs and I have an obsession with piano, guitar, and composing, but mostly with vocal harmony. I play all the instruments on my debut CD "Save The World" and wrote or cowrote all of the music. I so appreciate all of your comments, good and well...not so good;), but truly, I thank you all for listening and for writing:) I hope that the message of peace, and quality of the music production is why this is even happening, as the production is intense and complex as it is made with the layering of of thousands of vocal layers per CD. I owe the quality of this new sound to platinum sound designer/recording artist Mars Lasar. We both are feeling blessed as the title track on "Save The World" is finding it's way onto AC and Top 40 radio and we are grateful and motivated to keep it all going. Also, I look forward to performing live as Cadence Spalding which will be soon. I am sneaking into small towns to test the sound on stage and it has been mind blowing. Currently we are finishing touches on the next CD and hope to have a special Christmas release as well. (To the author: Thank you for listening and for a really cool forum! FYI this CD was released in 2009 (not 2008) and is still charting, 6 months now, on the NAR World Radio Charts) Please know that I am so grateful to Enya for this: raising the standards of music in general and for acquiring such a sophisticated and loyal following. Wishing you all peace and happiness eternally. Blessings, Cadence*)~

Oh my, look Cadence has replied to this topic! How lucky of us! :o

Welcome to the Buzz Jack forum, Cadence. This is a rather small community of Enya fans here, but nonetheless we are a group of higly devoted members!

It is so wonderful to hear you admire Enya's music. Enya has a God-Given talent in which she has been able to make melodies that reach people's souls. They move us on the inside, they captivate us, and give us hope and warmth. Roma Ryan's lyrics add a different dimension to the music; her words also give us hope. :)

Don't get me wrong, your music is nice, but it is nothing in comparison to Enya's.

Also, I've seen a few things that disturb me. I was watching one of your YouTube videos, and you refered to the people complementing on your video as "Beautiful Earthlings". What is that? Is that how you refer to people in general?

Anyways, I wish you a lot of luck.

Still not having listened to any of Candence's music, I can't/won't say anything good, bad, or indifferent about it.....but, just from what I've read so far both here and other places, I still think I'd prefer Enya to Cadence, especially if what I've read about the 'muddied' multi-layered vocals.....that's not to say Cadence is a respectable singer/songwriter in her own right, but, I think I'd still like to be able to understand the lyrics on the cd....with that said, I'll shut my yap for now, before I really open a can of worms without giving the music a proper listen....
Truly, I will agree. I don't think my first CD is anywhere near as good as Enya's music in any way. I meant to convey that. Hoping that one of my next CD's gets a little better in quality and in spirit, but it will never ever be as good - impossible!! I think people are just trying to categorize the music. Enya is the true original! She cleared a path for all of us in every genre. I hope to perform soon and show you that I am completely different. I play piano and guitar and I sing live improv leads - so stay tuned, K? I remember teaching a dance/meditation class to her music in the early 90's. We were all stunned and moved by the music!! It is like musical prayers to me. By "Beautiful Earthlings" it was just a one time play on words. I love words and I love people. Sorry if it was misread. OH, btw, my name is spelled C A D E N C E just for record. You all are devoted music/Enya fans with obvious zest for life and art and with deep intelligence, and again, I am grateful for the listen. I'll stop talking now and listen - hoping you all can teach me something with your honesty. Have a wonderful day... Peace, Cadence *)~

Thank you Cadence for replying. We will be awaiting your next album :)

Also thank you for clarifying that whole Earthlings thing. My apologies! ;)

Cadence, it's a pleasure to meet you, please, feel free to stay and post on the forum! And good luck with your musical endeavours, whatever direction they may turn... ^_^

I never expected to see this and the other post when I logged on today! :o Welcome to BuzzJack and the Enya forum, Cadence. ^_^ Your posts have given me a lot of insight. A random page that I clicked on when I was Google searching said your album was released in 2008, I see they were wrong now. I will fix that in my post.

Yes, this stands true. ;)

Just listening to My Man, very nice song. ^_^ I too can hear the Enya comparisons slightly, and welcome to the forum Cadence. :D
Thank you David. For real;) Working late 2nite on CD #3:P Sleep deprived. New YouTube fan video from Portugal to be posted this weekend - for title track remix - obscure and beautiful photos - have a look! Debut Xmas CD 2007 was called "Star Is Born" and was named, packaged and released by Gemini Sun records and my name got left off of a lot of listings even though I sang 100% and wrote and produced almost all of it:( 1st record deal so made lotsa mistakes. Music is, I believe, unique but traditional. Regarding the loss of control...long story...NEW at this=I U guys weren't helping me then! Would love feedback on that CD though (Xmas) - even in Summer - whenever!:)) Last night gigging as a giant "grape" and sometimes even a "princess" at local festival w/ 3K people - under my alter ego "Miss Jenny Sings". 1 woman show - kiddie rock - w/ electric guitar, keys and vocal harmonizers. Pay bills - lol! Please visit me on Facebook under Cadence Spalding for more on this nuttiness and gig info. Oh, new interview on newagemusic.nu. Thanks for letting me talk to y'all here... Peace everyone...Cadence*)~
