So Beverley is playing the iTunes Festival, headlining on the 25th. (next week) In 2007 some of her performances ended up on iTunes. Kinda wondering what will happen this year though as last time her album has already been released when she performed (I think) so they probably wont be releasing any performances that she hasn't released herself yet.

 

Anyway, more importantly, I only went and applied for tickets and won some. :w00t: Me and probably my brother are going to see her, not sure who her support will be but hoping it's someone good too.

 

Did anyone else know about this/win tickets? :o

Haha, I think I may have cheated as well but I'm not sure which one I won. I only applied once via the official route, but I think I used both of my e-mails on the newsletter competition. Perhaps they haven't selected winners for the newsletter one yet? It's only e-tickets, so they could probably leave it until as late as the day before the show.

 

It seems likely, but then we might end up with doubles. I suppose they didn't add obvious songs like "Keep This Fire Burning" or "Come As You Are" last time. It'd be good if they recorded some and held them back until the album was out.

The e-mail said no form of recording is allowed but I'm sure I've seen people on the TV coverage holding up their iPhones. :unsure: I'd feel bad after moaning that no one records her stuff at gigs but I'm not sure I'll get away with it, not that I have a video recorder anyway. :lol:

I think so, there was the official iTunes Festival website where you just apply for them and then I got an e-mail from her newsletter where you sent your full name, e-mail and phone number to some Hurricane Records e-mail address. This e-mail said I'll be informed 10 days before the concert if I won, which is when I got my e-mail, so I assume I won them through that. Makes more sense really, I expect more people will have applied through the website, rather than an e-mail.

 

But yeah, it's definitely the 25th. I'm seeing her in September too, are you going to the ICA show? I'll be seeing her live three times this year. :blush:

I've signed up to that site with 3 different email addresses too :wacko: Everytime Bev does something from her site, you have to re-sign up for that newsletter again, don't you? I had to sign up for the Money Back demo, then again when I entered a competition, then I had to sign up again when I downloaded Every Step... lol. My mistake, it's the 25th!

Hmm that's weird, I don't think I've signed up to any other mailing lists and it was in the same format as the e-mail that told us about the ICA gig and tour presale. Yeah you do lol, probably to catch those who haven't signed up before. I don't think it sends me any extra e-mails for signing up repeatedly.

Duh, my mistake !! It does start at 6 LOL! I've read the 18:00 but not seen the '1' so read it as 8:00 :embarrassed: so yeah she'll definitely be on then.. I'd imagine it would be finishing about 45 minutes after that anyway so there'd be no point in turning up that late.

Oh right LOL I thought opening them that early would be a bit weird. So you reckon it'll be finished by about 9? I need to try and find out how long it's on.

She was amazing. Couldn't get any vids, was second row and the girl in front got told off by someone in front of the barrier for recording! :( Didn't get any good pics either as I only had a phone, was scared of getting mugged for my camera. :(

Will probably post more about it later but OMG "Soul Survivor" sounds AMAZING. Here's the jumbled mess I posted about it elsewhere :heehee: :

 

"Soul Survivor", on the other hand, was my highlight of the night. It starts off all twinkly on a piano and then ERUPTS into this huge chorus "I'M A SOUL SURVIVOR" etc. (can't remember exactly) but the crowd loved it. We were all clapping along and this definitely got the biggest reaction of the four new songs. Mary (backing singer) did Chaka's bits, which I think are on the verses (though it's hard to tell on the chorus as the backin singers had quiet mics) and there's a bit where Bev and Mary sang together to each other, can't WAIT to hear it when it's Chaka! Can definitely see where Bev was coming from when she said they were writing it with Tina Turner in mind to start with. Sounds like a cross between "Private Dancer" (towards the end when Tina does the bigger vocals) and "Black Butta" to me, though I may be remembering it differently to how it actually was.

The guy who says "WE LOVE YOU BEVERLEY" at 00:17 was right behind me, scared the $h!t out of me! :( I had a bit of a lump in my throat when she was talking about it being inspired by her friend and how we're all like gold to her. So cliché but I was welling up, so much love in that room.

 

Oh and I was sure she was loking at me at some point in that performance, but I totally can't see it now. I was standing way over by the backing singers and she never really looks far in that direction on this. Maybe 2:00-2:08 or 2:48-2:52 but I think I might just be dreaming it up now! LOL :(
