This was amazing.

Oh, and the girl who plays Effy in Skins was in it lawlz.

A seriously good, intelligent, well thought out Sci Fi film.. What a refreshing thing this is, seriously after all the cr@p we've been subjected to recently (Terminator Salvation??? :puke2: :puke2:, Transformers??? Better, but not really by much...).... A very credible, realistic and extremely well made film this is... There's echoes of the greats in here - Bladerunner, Silent Running, 2001, even Alien (in terms of the mood); as well as literary allusions to the likes of Philip K Dick, Arthur C Clark, HG Wells, etc.... But it's still very much the creation of the writer/director Duncan Jones (son of David Bowie no less..... :o ). A very confident and assured debut film from a film-maker I think we're going to be hearing a LOT more from in the future if this is anything to go by, the next Ridley Scott maybe...? Made on the sort of budget that probably wouldn't even cover the catering bill for the new Harry Potter film, but it uses its (relatively low) budget extremely well and creates a mood, intensity and atmosphere that totally belies its modest origin. I wont go into the plot details too much, I think you kind of have to go a bit "blind" into this one so the story developments hit you when they should, as opposed to you reading about them in a review....

Suffice to say, I have a feeling that when the Oscar nominations are being drawn up, expect to see the name Sam Rockwell in the Best Actor list - a really, really excellent performance, and Kevin Spacey is also great as the voice of GERTY....

A superb sci-fi film (not a "movie"), go see. NOW.... 10/10

i really want to see it now, my Vue cinema seems to think its above this film.

may end up a download job ):

i brought Che to make up for it though.

Tw@ts.... I'm betting they've got bloody 3 cinemas set aside for Harry Potter or Tranformers though..... <_<

by the looks of things harry potter had like 3 screens.

it's like the film industry wants me to break the law and illegally download films.

That could be your line of defence when your court case comes up...... :D

Glad to see this got a thread - there wasn't one when I saw it a few weeks ago. Very enjoyable, very well-made film and let's give credit to a wonderful soundtrack by ex-PWEI man Clint Mansell too.

As for the big cinema chains ignoring it - well, screw them. I'm lucky enough to have an independent cinema near me which shows virtually everything I want to see while Vue and Cineworld show the same big-budget, small-minded trash for weeks on end. An added bonus is no noisy kids but, by Christ, is it uncomfortable compared to the comfiness of Vue...

Funny you should mention Cineworld, I actually saw Moon IN the Cineworld in Haymarket, London West End....  But then that particular Cineworld is more known for playing the sort of art-house/indie/foreign language stuff....
