September 20, 200915 yr I find it exceedingly slight and would much rather listen to Talulah Gosh, The Shop Assistants, The Chesterfields or The Brilliant Corners than this. But the Pains have a much harder sound, a much fuzzier sound. They're twee, yes, but not to the extent of Tallulah Gosh or The Chesterfields (both of whom I like a lot) who totally lack the buzzsaw guitars. I see the Pains as sounding more like Ride when they were good or early Boo Radleys. Still, can't please everyone...and the bands you list are all superb alternatives :)
September 20, 200915 yr Gah! Stupid slow connection - I ended up posting the same thing twice... Edited September 20, 200915 yr by richie
September 24, 200915 yr Alas, just heard from their PR that the EP has been delayed until 9th November...so much for their releasing two singles in quick succession!
September 24, 200915 yr 'Higher Than The Stars' is alright, probably my fave by them. The rest is listenable but I dunno, this is the sort of stuff I should adore and yet for some reason I don't. It's not bad by any stretch, but I just can't seem to get into it.
October 2, 200915 yr Author Just saw them live. Met them as they were selling their own t-shirts. Yayzz.
