What the hell's this cr@p and what does it have to do with Florence and the Machine, or even MUSIC generally; and what's with the multiple posts...... <_< Spammer.....
August 4, 200915 yr oh well it had to happen didnt it?.... a siouxsie and the banshees tribute act... <_< siouxsie being one of our most iconic, inovative female performers ever... accidentally creating 'goth' (she inspired the genre without trying) and the queen of 'indie' ... that REAL indie. YP-ZUbSmkRM kbW3rkHKunw&feature=related not that f & the m are particually bad, but original they aint.
August 4, 200915 yr oh well it had to happen didnt it?.... a siouxsie and the banshees tribute act... <_< siouxsie being one of our most iconic, inovative female performers ever... accidentally creating 'goth' (she inspired the genre without trying) and the queen of 'indie' ... that REAL indie. not that f & the m are particually bad, but original they aint. I definitely got the Siouxsie and the Banshees/Creatures (actually, more Creatures than Banshees tbh....) vibe off of "Lungs", totally.... It's not that it's a bad album by any means, and Flo and the Machine are a better act than most of today's overly NME-hyped "indie" haircut crud..... But, yeah, this is NOT original, and it's certainly NOT "album of the year" (for me that particular honour goes, so far, to The Horrors for their fantastic reinvention/reinvigoration of genuine Indie Rock on their absolutely astounding album "Primary Colours")..... 'Lungs' would be considered a very middle-of-the-road effort in the early/mid-80s in an atmosphere of acts such as The Smiths, The Cure, The Banshees/Creatures, Japan/Sylvian, Echo and the Bunnymen, Talking Heads, etc.....
August 4, 200915 yr ^ Although, in saying all this.. As a post-script to my last post, I can in a lot of ways understand why people are rating Flo and the Machine so highly... The absolute stunning mediocrity, banality and unoriginality that exists in the so-called "indie" scene just now (and popular music generally....) is so great that just about anything with even the remotest spark of individuality to it is being jumped on and trumpeted as the "next big thing"..... I cant say that I blame most of today's kids for thinking that Flo and the Machine are such hot sh"t, I mean, anything that's genuinely "Alternative" is a bit bloody thin on the ground these days.....

August 4, 200915 yr Gorgeous video, amazing choice for the single. Nothing to add. She really is amazing.

It'd be even worse if she turned into some fakey, Americanised bint like Joss Stone did.... With the bizarre, Mid-Atlantic accent and all..... "Lungs" is a solid enough album, but I have concerns about "Florence" tbh, she used to be in a band called Ashok, who were great, but she ditched them to find fame and pursue her career instead of remaining loyal to her fellow bandmates... So, I've a bad feeling that she's going to turn out really bad, fake and Americanised a few years down the line..... :( As big a w@nker as Bono may be, he's always remained true to his bandmates in U2, for 30 years, and I'm sure he's had plenty of opportunities to "go solo" over the years.....
August 4, 200915 yr I was expecting a good video from Florence but this..... wow :o I love sexy Florence.... She blew me away Edited August 5, 200915 yr by Nimbus
August 9, 200915 yr An epic song with an even epicer music video from one of the best albums of the year so far, quite obviously, but not ideal in terms of single success. The obvious choice would be to re-release "You've Got The Love" since it's currently #68 on the UK Singles Chart. And if she wanted to go with something unreleased she should've went with the best on the album "Cosmic Love". . Still can't get enough of "Rabbit Heart" though  and I'm quite amazed at its sales consistancy and longevity in the top 20 tbh, I thought it'd do an "A&E" ;o
August 9, 200915 yr great choice ..... would have liked to have seen Cosmic Love's realease in Britain though
August 9, 200915 yr Surely 'Cosmic Love' was the obvious choice for second single? This is not bad though.
August 16, 200915 yr I think I'm the only person in the world completely disappointed in the Florence album. I've loved all the singles, but over an album, her annoying vocal affectations get on my nerves. And her teeth-grindingly AWFUL cover of 'You Got The Love' tagged on at the end is just hideous. And yes, she obviously has listened to the Siouxsie and the Banshees back catalogue on repeat..... but an icon like La Sioux she will never be. One thing, though, Rob.... Siouxsie Sioux is far from modest hehe.... she's fully aware of her status and not afraid to let people know her achievements... and rightly so, really....
