I cant see this doing that well to be honest. I think its too premature to be releasing a greatest hits. He just doesnt have enough material for one. Look at other artists like Christina Aguilera and Anastacia who released greatest hits sets quite quickly - these didnt do great.

 

Will's not releasing any earlier than anyone else does nowadays. The norm seems to be 3 or 4 albums, Will's done 4 in 7 years and this is a collection of his hit singles 12 in total, plus two bonus tracks. that's exactly the same number of tracks that Annie Lennox put on her collection this year, and she seemed to do ok with it. ;)

 

I think too that none of these artists have much say as to whether a GH is released or not, it just seems to be the way the record labels decide to round off an album deal. Those that you mentioned were Sony artists too, just like Will.

Girls Aloud, who came along a year after Will's career started, have already done it after 3 albums with 12 top 10 hits, Will is doing it after 4 albums and 10 top ten hits. I don't see how it's ok for others and not Will to be honest. Anyway, it's the last album of his 5 album deal with Sony/BMG and so it's the norm for it to be a hits compilation.

A greatest hits CD should be a collection of an artists finest work to date. The singles off the first album were mostly crap cover versions, its only when he releases his 2nd and 3rd album that he starts to release some great material. The 4th album was a bit of a hit n miss affair. Yeah, many other artists also release greatest hits sets earlier, but that wasnt my point. I was just stating that I think its well too early and I think his sales will suffer as a result.
