Her website confirms a 1st Quarter 2010 release date for her upcoming album, which she is working on with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis:

Jackson is currently unsigned after parting ways with record label Def Jam over mis-management of her last album. So far she has worked with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis on her untitled new album.

Let's hope for some sort of success this time round

I look forward to this, her albums aren't very solid and contain a hell of a lot of samey filler but she always has a couple of killer tracks on there. ^_^

To be honest I think her deal with Island Def Jam was her best bet at being successful again, they pumped a hell of a lot of money into her and then she left because of "creative differences" - seemingly there's no pleasing her. She was with EMI and I genuinely thought it was them who botched up her career and made very little effort into making her a success and was pleased when she left and signed with IDJ, but then the same thing happened with them. I reckon she's just plain lazy really, she needs to realise that she cannot sell based on name alone anymore and has to promote just like everybody else and seemingly it's something she's not prepared to do which makes her entire career redundant, i'm very doubtful that she'll ever be successful again i'm sad to say, but it's her complacency that's making her career that way.

I don't know what could help Janet at this stage. I thought Discipline was a fantastic album and deserved a ton of sucess, but she didn't really seem too bothered promoting it outside of america. I don't know whether that was her doing of the record company, but she needs to do some promotion!!

She needs to quit it with the never ending inteludes too. One or two is fair enough, but she's addicted!! They make her album too long. Quit it with all the sex songs too. I get that she likes singing about her vagina, but come on... we don't all wanna hear about it :P

I think Janet needs to release a greatest hits and have a killer single to promote it, then follow that up with a new studio album. With michael;s death janets profile be higher so that will help also. I always enjoy janets albums and i agree they always have some killer songs that make up for some of the more filler tracks, but her albums and singles just dont seem to do that well lately.
She's not signed with anyone which is a big gamble f they release anything before they get signed. A new song has appeared on her website, I'm not sure if it's a single - but it's good, but needs improvement

I agree with this.

Janet Jackson will go "back to basics" on her new album, according to her producer Rodney Jerkins.

The singer, who recently previewed new material on her official website, will also record a special tribute for her late brother Michael.

"It's about dancing. We're going back to basics and fundamental sounds of Janet - a lot of up-tempo stuff that makes you feel good," Jerkins told the Daily Star.

"I worked for years with Michael and became real close friends with him. Now I'm working heavily with Janet. For her to do a tribute for him, it's gonna be amazing. It's about brotherly love."

Jerkins, who has previously worked with artists including Lionel Richie and Whitney Houston, is also reportedly producing new records for Mary J. Blige and Cassie.

Jackson's new album is expected to be released next year.

Janet needs to move on from jimmy jam and terry lewis. Does she not realize they are so 80s? Their songs are bringing her down.
Janet needs something massive to revive her career, especially in the UK, her last few studio albums havent done great and i really thought her greatest hits would have done much better than it did, i know it has sold about 85,000 so far which is alot comparing to sales of her previous 2-3 studio albums, but i has great hopes for the greatest hits selling alot more. I really hope janet can get back on track again as i have always prefered her music to michaels and janet has done some fantastic music in her day and i really hope those days return soon.
