Deftones is an American rock band from Sacramento California, formed in 1988. Consisting of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Chi Cheng (bass), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion). Critics have often praised their music as atmospheric, innovative and unique.

I think they're absolutely great tbh... As I said to you at the NIN gig Chris.... ^_^

I dont actually view them as a "Metal" band per se, I see them more as "Alternative Rock", because they've got a style which is as much influenced by The Smiths, Sonic Youth and The Cure than anything else...

Fave songs of theirs...

7 Seconds

Drive

Bored

My Own Summer (Shove It)

Change (In the House of Flies)

Knife Prty

Pink Maggit/Back to School

Minerva

Hexagram

Hole in the Earth

Mein

Xerces

Digital Bath

Fave Album - Probably "White Pony", because that really sees them stretching out musically, and gets to near-Radiohead levels of sonic experimentation, as well as having some absolutely mind-blasting Rock tracks.... A near-as-dammit perfect mixture of balls-out Alt Rock and Arty experimentation.. Brilliant, genre defining record....

can you believe at Reading this year, the band after Deftones is.... FALL OUT BOY

i predict some of the hardcore FOB fans that turn up at the front early are gonna get mauled.

Deftones will $h!t over most bands at Reading this year, apart from maybe Faith No More.

Ridiculous.... That's just a bit like having The Saturdays or Pussycat Dolls on after The Prodigy.....

Here's hoping for a repeat of the "rain of p*** bottles and mud" which greeted The Rasmus some years ago......

I should warn you though Chris, Deftones can seriously blow hot or cold depending on Chino's mood..... I've seen Deftones both totally up for it and just not giving a fukk... They're really tempramental sods.....

Oh, happy memories..... And they absolutely and completely deserved it..... They just didn't seem to quite "get" that they were just added to the bill that year as a joke.....

Tbh I hadn't heard much of their stuff but on seeing this thread I have listened to Adrenaline now...

and what a great album.

I now intend to listen to them in order of release with one every so often coz I think this is a band worth proper investigation.

This band brings me back. I wouldn't be a fan, but I did like "Back to School", "Digital Bath", "Change", and "My Own Summer". "My Own Summer" has to be my favourite. :)

I've always liked them but have never listened to them as much as other bands for some reason.

Forget my previous comment I am realising how amazingly good they are right now.

Did you see them at Leeds?

Yes and they were very good, you enjoy them at Reading?

I almost died from inhaling dust coming out from the pit, I also almost died by being in the pit, INSANE, they really know how to play live.

You guys caught them on a good day then.....

How's Chino looking these days...? Still a fatty..? or is he more slimmed down....?

Looked pretty normal at Leeds, more muscle than fat nowadays.

Hmmm, maybe this is why they're putting on good shows again.... Last time I saw them, Chino was pretty much what you'd call morbidly obese, quite clearly drunk, and just as clearly not giving a rat's ass about putting on a good show.... They were massively disappointing by comparison to what I'd seen before.... Well, if they're "up for it" again, I might just go see them next time they're in London....

Can't decide what my favourite album of theirs is.

It is between 'White Pony' and 'Around the Fur' but both are amazing, 'Saturday Night Wrist' is a close third and 'Deftones' last.

I haven't heard 'Adrenaline'.
