It's from season 5 when the time flashes are happening. Some people start shooting at the other canoe (i'm guessing because they thought Locke was Flocke) and Juliet shoots one of them, then they flash again.

There's no way Widmore's dead yet. They wouldn't have such a pivitol character's death off screen. I'm 100% sure he'll die, but how and when I do not know. Probably in 6.16. I have got the feeling that Flocke just wants everybody dead now, although I think he wants them to kill each other since he can't actually kill them. I actually read a good theory that Flocke can't actually kill anyone unless they attack him first (would make sense I guess?). Or maybe he's done playing nice now and just wants the remaining characters all dead (Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, Desmond, Miles, Richard and Ben... they're the only remaining main billing characters now I think, well and Claire, but he doesn't want her dead, at least we're led to believe).

The Candidate was a great episode, and now things really seem to be stepping into the next gear and I'm so pumped for next week. Darlton said that they wanted to spend "a dozen" episodes having the smoke monster perform a long con, before pulling this out of the bag. The deaths didn't move me as much as they should have (mainly because I've seen other shows do death scenes for their characters a lot better) but I thought

Yunjin Kim's

acting totally made that scene.

One niggle I had was how Sun didn't force Jin to go for the sake of their daughter, their 'poetic' dying together seemed rather forced in that regard to be honest, but I loved the final shot of their hands parting, I think that was the most touching part, and I was glad that they showed, however briefly, the other characters breaking down at their loss. Although it's funny how everyone forgot about Frank.

I'm glad how for the most part the characters were finally together, I think the show is at its weakest when everyone is seperated.

Although, to start a discussion, I don't consider Lost to be the best television show ever. I think Battlestar Galactica, which is on a similar scope to Lost, is superior; it has richer and more complex characters and devlopment, a richer mythology and world, political intrigue and social commentary and has far more touching character moments. Six Feet Under, however trumps everything, it is a real showcase for writing, acting and directing. If you are stuck for TV shows after Lost ends and want to fill a void, I urge you to consider these.

I'm not slighting Lost (it's my third favourite TV show) but thought it would be an interesting discussion to have while waiting for the next episode.

the only suriviors left from 815 now is Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and Walt! thinking about that is mental, we had so many characters at the start :(

thanks to lostpedia, i know the scene you mean now, hmm i wonder who they were and why they are shooting, it must have been around the time were in now because of an Ajira water bottle in the canoe, http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:Other...s_outrigger.png i really cant think who it could be but just a small possible guess, Locke, Sayid and Jack while they were travelling between islands between the last two episodes? f*** knows tbh.

I plan to watch Battlestar Galactica some time in my post-Lost life, im gonna pick up either that or The Wire anyway, but you convinced be on Battlestar before I believe, although I need to finish Dexter aswell (in the middle of season 2, addicted), I just really dont think I'll ever like anything more than Lost ever though, I have such a hige attachment to the show, and everytime I browse lostpedia I just think how genius a program it is.

I'm hoping/assuming there will be some sort of epic Lost boxset realsed, I so cant wait for my epic rewatch of all seasons, i hope there is some amazing boxset anyway with special features and commentaries that might get Damon and Carlton to explain a few smaller things that are unanswered.

I think the outrigger scene will be in the finale, there's got to be some big significance to it.

Dan I know what you mean about Sun & Jin as well. If I was Jin, i'd have gone look after my child, but I sort of saw their deaths coming. They gave a bit of closure to Sun & Jin in the cages, and how Sun mentioned what Ji-Yeon was doing (this has annoyed me for a long time). But it was a bit stupid. Although I think their deaths are going to serve as big motivation for the remaining characters. I really liked how they all had a mini breakdown at the end of the episode (not in a sadistic way, but it was a nice touch). I can't see the show losing any of its steam now, I really think the finale is going to be EPIC.

Does anybody else get the feeling that the MiB is perhaps in John Locke's body in the Sideways flashes? Just watching the episode again now, i've really got that impression.

didnt get that impression at all about MiB in flash sideways. but who knows what this show can throw at us lol.

it was the right time for Sun and Jin tbh, now they are reunited, their story had ended, although if I was Jin I would of gone to look after the daughter.

the only suriviors left from 815 now is Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and Walt! thinking about that is mental, we had so many characters at the start :(

Don't forget Claire :P But I know what you mean, I had the same feeling at the end of Season Four. The show has changed so much since Season One.

I might have done, I don't shut-up about it (I'm pretty sure I talked about it already on this very thread) :P But you really, really have to watch BSG (I think in another thread you said you had already begun watching Caprica, although I may be mistaken). I think it is the most similar show to Lost out there (Darlton mentioned watching the finale, to see how they went about ending an equally complex show) and if you love the characters devlopment on Lost, then you will adore how much they exlpore all the characters on BSG, it's even been critised for being too in love with their characters, you will dislike every character at least once throughout the show. The mythology as well is immense, and will definitely satisfy your needs after Lost (there have been webisodes as well, and a TV movie, with further future TV show spin-off on top of Caprica planned because the universe they created is so rich) it's one of the few television programmes around to have won the prestigious Peabody award (only one television show a year is awarded with this, other shows that have won it include The Wire) and more so than Lost, BSG has real social and political commentary, the complexity of how to govern and police the last remaining humans constantly on the run and in fear of extermination is explored thoroughly and entertainingly.

(I'm sure I've posted this trailer before, I think to show Rooney, so sorry if I have, although I think this trailer is great at giving people a flavour of what BSG is about, and the sheer scope of it)

Phew, sorry for the long speech but I am very passionate about the show.

Also, Six Feet Under, you have to put it on your list. Best show that has ever graced the small screen bar none. The final episode is a masterpiece. Six Feet Under heavily inspired others shows such as Nip / Tuck and Rescue Me.

This really manages to sum up Six Feet Under well and once again give you a feel for the show, it also stars the amazing Micheal C. Hall (from Dexter) and Frances Conroy (who Arthur Miller called the best modern actress working today) although once this video ends, I wouldn't watch Part 2 as it does contain spoilers ect.

No, I don't think so, although I'm open for anything to happen.

And I'm glad other people agree, it seemed rather selfish of the characters and a bit convoulted in general but I will let it slide :P and I know what you mean about the mini-breakdown, these scenes are needed if deaths are going to have any impact on the audience, or if you want to make the characters more believeable so I'm glad they included it.

I also agree about the last stretch, by the way the episode ended, $h!t is really going to hit the fan now.

nah you posted the BSG trailer to show me before, I havent already started watching caprica though, it's definatly high up my list to watch next.

I have never really been compelled to watch Six Feet Under tbh, maybe in a few years when theres finally no more things i want to watch.

oh wow last night's episode was the best of season 5, three main characters getting killed off all in one show, that's if they are really dead.

I'm beginning to think Lost is a game, surivival of the fittest, that Charles Widmore created, but that could be too far fetched, since they didn't all die in the plane crash at the beginning of season 1.

nah no way did Charles Widmore create it, he is just a rook in the game of chess. the question is if he is which side of the chess board he begins on (white or black).
f*** me. that was amazing. im going to end up watching that a good two more times I feel. f***. fuuuuck. wow.

Really enjoyed the episode. It maybe should have answered a few more questions, but the impression I got was we're just going to have to take everything with a pinch of salt. We're just meant to understand that the light is very important and it needs protecting, and as Mother said "any question you ask, will lead to another question". So I think we're just meant to accept it.

So who/what is the Smoke Monster? Are we just to assume the smoke monster was created through Jacob's rage, and it's taken the form of his brother??

so much to take in that episode, lots of questions raised, I know wont be answered, I love the line "any question you ask, will lead to another question" really sums up the show.

-Claudia looked a bit similar to Illana to me, i'm probaly looking too far into it but we still havent hasd Illanna explained and it doesnt look like we will seeing as she is dead now.

-The infertility thing definatly comes up, mother was obviously waiting for the two boys, a theory I have read suggests that maybe she put a curse on the island so only the right ones are born (aka Jacob and MiB) or maybe only special ones (which allowed Aaron to be born on the island), I definatly think there is a link here to why you cant conceive children on the island.

-Many questions about Mother, the one I really want to know is how did she come to be on the island, why is she this almighty figure, the protector of the light.

-Doing some research the game, which obviously has it's massive signifigance is Senet, which dates back to eygption times, which may also go with theories that eygptions had once inhabited the island, which also brings to the black smoke which there were eygption style drawings of either under the statue or in the temple (cant remember which), suggesting the smoke monster wasnt made when Jacob threw MiB into the light.

-I think Jacob does create his own game where he makes he rules (as mentioned when the two are playing Senet) which is what they have been playing all along? or is it more to do with Jacob protecting the light and there has never been a game element to it? Mother is never suggested to be trying to prove that there can be people who dont destroy/corrupt etc like Jacob is trying to prove to MiB when we first see the two converse in Season 5 (on the beach seeing the Black Rock coming).

-MiB (BiB-Boy In Black) seeing Claudia was definatly interesting, did he see her in the same way as Hurley, is she, like Michael one of the souls trapped on the island? Or is it possibly Mother impersonating her in the same style MiB in the future impersonates the dead, and she wanted this to happen, she wanted MiB to live with 'his people' etc and maybe was a plan of her's all along (which supports another theory I have read).

-The donkey wheel part is interesting, as Mother destroyed the place and killed them all, meaning the wheel was never put in place, the system MiB mentioned was never made - by them, so who did make it, or did MiB make it whenever he comes back (he may of died when he went into the light but he clearly returns as smoke and at somepoint readopts his original body which is what confuses me about the adam and eve thing, as at this point the Black Rock and Richard hasnt arrived on the island.

What i really want to know now from this is;

-What becomes of the smoke monster/MiB we clearly see post-this time, MiB and the smoke monster as one, as in that very same body adopted by the smoke monster, is this just an evil version of MiB created when Jacob threw him into the cave, and how does he have that body when we see in the future it is still next to his Mother's body, how can his body be used and dead at the same time, and is it still the same being who we saw growing up or not.

-What is the light source, what is it's purpose etc, what will become of it in the finale etc.

-Mother said she got to the island 'by accident' where was she before, what was happening on the island while she had been there alone/before she was there, how did she get into her protector of the light position? It doesnt seem like she started all this so who/what did? and will this even be explained?

The next episode is called 'What They Died For' does this suggest all the remaining candidates will die?

oh and Rooney please tell me who the designer is of those book cover style Lost themed vector designs in your sig.

Well the donkey wheel thing. There's a theory going about that perhaps Mother finished off creating the wheel, turned the wheel so they ended up in the future and then filled the well up. Who knows.

I agree it's interesting with the BiB and seeing Claudia. I do think he WAS the chosen one. Which in a way, perhaps this is the same of Locke. Maybe he was the chosen one, but now Jack is. I don't ever think the light is going to be explained. I don't even think Jacob knew what it was, although it's obviously going to play a huge part in the finale. The more I think about, I think the smoke is the light. When MiB was pushed into the hole, the light dimmed a little and it acumilated in the smoke monster. Remember Locke said something like "I looked into its eyes and it was beautiful" when he encountered the smoke monster. So who knows.

I'm pretty sure Mother made it so that Jacob and MiB could never kill each other. Maybe MiB is actually physically dead, but his conciousness is not. He thinks he needs to go home, but he can't actually be left to go out as it would corrupt the world as he is the smoke monster. One final point for the moment, it's pretty obvious that Desmond is going to go down into the light as he cannot be killed through electromagentism, which is what is in the hole.

Oh and Chris I got them off someones Flickr account, they're so good aren't they?!

hmm, the mother finishing and making the wheel theory just sounds.. pointless, i dont understand how that would benefit anything.

the smoke being the light is an interesting theory, could be a reason why he cant leave the island, i dont think the smoke is the light though.

the light doesnt kill you, it's "worse than death" so how did we get a dead MiB body, maybe what the light does to you is make you the smoke monster which is worse than death (in Mother's opinon)? and then the smoke monster/MiB is still the same as the person who is Jacob's brother before he turned into the smoke monster as in exactly the same person but is now smoke rather than has a body, but he can make the smoke transform into the body of a dead body (body, not person) so turned into his own body.

who's flickr account?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28863833@N07 - they're really so good. I think my favourite one is The Incident one.

Well I think how MiB's body came, we're just going to have to accept it. It's like, how did we get two John Locke's? I think the smoke is the light, and by him going into the cave he's basically been told he can never leave the island. MiB must want all the candidates dead so that light can no longer be protected? Idk. I think the MiB on the island is still the actual MiB, only he's merged with the light. There's definitely parallels between Jack & Jacob and MiB & Locke. Locke and MiB were both meant to be the protectors of the island imo.

From that episode I think the only thing that will really be touched on again is the light. It must be what is the cause for everything that happens on island e.g. time travel, quick healing etc.

LA X, The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham and 326 are amazing from that flickr account.

We got two Locke's because of time travel? actually im not sure that makes sense (well time travel doesnt, does it), I think MiB/the smoke can transform into any dead person, but not take their bodies, maybe it has to be one of the souls trapped on the island too? I'm pretty sure MiB seeing Claudia though was the smoke (but controlled by who?)

I like the parallels between Jack and Jacob and MiB and Locke idea, i'm not sure whether it's right or not but it's a nice concept.

Yeah the light is the heart of the island, the source of everything, it must be so important that it has basically caused everything that has happened on the island, so now all they need to do is tell us why and how and what exactly is the light and how did it become.
