I loved the original film way back. I'll hang fire on making a comment on this until I've seen it.

Have you changed your name again?

Yeah, he was Mart1n originally, then he had to change it to Mikey, then he changed it back, now he's changed it forwards again  Anyway I LOVE Oscar Wilde but I never saw the original film. Looks interesting, I'll prolly give it a go :)

I love Ben Barnes!!! Can't wait to see this version! Dorian Gray's pretty dark... I liked their movie poster for this movie too.

ooh next Wednesday, can't wait, everytime I see the trailer it looks awesome.
One of my friends helped make the costumes and set design on that film.... So, obviously I will be seeing this to lend my moral support to her.... It does look good and dark though (although it has to be said, this film was just begging for Tim Burton to direct..), they've probably upped the old "sex and violence" angle I would imagine from dear old Oscar's original literary vision....

For its time the Hurd Hadfield version was very dark and violent (I can't remember much about the sex angle mind!)

Absolutely loved this to bits, bit slow to start off with, its starts 1 year later, the first 5 minutes, than rewinds back a year before the event, when the film comes to this point, it picks up the rest of the story. Its well written, the dark element is there throughout the film, there is a lot of debauchery and a bit of man to man action. But the ending says it all, which I will not reveal.

Love love loved it!

Thought it was brilliant throughout :o one of my favourite films this year, me thinks! :D

It's rather good, enjoyed it more than I expected to..... It gets rather lusty and bodice ripping at times, and well, nothing wrong with that really, in fact, could've happily lived with a bit more tbh..... I especially love the scene where Dorian "does" the mother AND daughter at the party.... HILARIOUS.......

Acting wise - well, it's the Colin Firth Show pretty much all the way, he's fantastic as Lord Henry, Ben Barnes however, well, he's pretty enough, but just a bit wooden unfortunately.... The Dark Victoriana Gothic mood and atmosphere is, on the whole, well realised, but the over-reliance on CGI is a bit of an irritant....

All in all, though, this is a handsome film, well made, solidly entertaining for the two hour running time.... Just such a shame that Tim Burton didn't tackle this 10/15 years ago with a younger Johnny Depp in the title role... MY, what a film that would have been......

7/10
