November 8, 200915 yr I just thought I'd map out just exactly what's in store for us with this new Best Of Enya. The Music 1. No new songs 2. An unreleased version of Aniron [which I am excited about] The DVD 1. All of Enya's videos save for 3 [i believe] (which have been available on iTunes for years and on youtube] 2. A Life In Music : A EPK that was released 8 years ago when Enya released ADWR 3. No new documentary footage 4. The Making Caribbean Blue [which can be found on Youtube] 5. The Making of Only Time [which most fans have seen countless times] The Photos 1. ZERO new photos, everything is taken from older photography sessions. I don't post this topic to take the wind out of anyone's sails, I do so to really put it out there that this release is a simple cash grab by Warner to make money off of the same songs that's been released on the past THREE Enya collections, starting with Paint The Sky With Stars. My disappointment with this is that it COULD HAVE BEEN awesome, and Aigle could have made this best of their own with the addition of a new track or two and the inclusion of DVD material that hasn't been in circulation on the web or DVD for the past 8 years. I am excited to hear this unreleased version of Aniron but it ends there. The problem with Enya starts during the interims of her formal releases. She doesn't tour and seemingly REFUSES to participate in any sort of live show despite talking about it the most she ever has when And Winter Came released last year. If they would just shut up about it and stop creating false hopes in their fan base then there would be less overall frustration about the silence and the poor offerings. I have strapped in for the wait for the next album which I'm hoping will be a new direction [to some degree]. Edited November 8, 200915 yr by TheSkeptic
November 10, 200915 yr Giddy that you purchased a boxed set of music you already own with nothing new to offer you?
November 10, 200915 yr LOL! Well, good, I am excited about hearing Aniron at least. I can't stand the version on the LOTR soundtrack, not the song itself obviously, but that orchestral portion, it takes me right of the Enya experience.
November 10, 200915 yr If I could afford it, I'd get the Collector's Edition as well, but, I guess I'll have to settle for the cd/dvd version instead.....
November 12, 200915 yr Author Who's to say there won't be new photos in the limited-edition book? You never know. ^_^ Even if there isn't, I bet the package is going to be beautiful regardless.
November 14, 200915 yr Author Clips are available here, and yes, they have Aniron. :o http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/a...ya/hnum/2159558
November 15, 200915 yr I'm LOVING this version of Aniron. It doesn't sound any less stripped down then the LOTR version.
November 15, 200915 yr I'm finding myself in agreement with a lot of what TheSkeptic has written. My excitement for this release is limited to Aniron really. Aniron, I've just realised, is probably the Enya track I've listened to the least. I never bought the Lord of the Rings soundtrack so I've never owned a legal copy of the song. I am eager to hear the 'new' version of this track. I'm not overly-upset that there is no other new music. We've had a lot since 2005 and I would rather the trio concentrated their energies on having some time off before starting work on another new album. I would be quite happy to wait until 2013 if I thought the album was going to be brilliant. And winter came was, I feel, the weakest of the 6 proper albums. The deluxe edition of the new best of looks beautiful and, to be frank, I can easily afford it. But I think it's overpriced and I can't justify spending that amount of money. I'm a collector in terms of music, not a collector of packaging. For that reason, I never bought Only Time: The Collection. I did buy A box of dreams but regretted it. I don't think the new best of will chart particularly highly in the UK, particularly if there's no promotion. I will buy the dvd edition but I'm not bursting with the usual excitement over an Enya release.
November 15, 200915 yr Author I've heard the LOTR version of Aniron, I think the Very Best Of version is going to be better sounding from what I heard on the clip.
November 16, 200915 yr Nice to hear the clip of Aniron there. ^_^ Looking quite forward to this release now!
November 17, 200915 yr Here's a quick chart update from Amazon UK, one week ahead of its release. CD: #524 CD/DVD: #608 Not actually that bad when you consider there has been completely zero promotion for it. Like...nothing at all. Comparing it to other albums that are being released next Monday... Susan Boyle: #8 Lady GaGa: #73 Chris Moyles: #101 Janet Jackson: #410 Mariah Carey: #500 Alesha Dixon: #512 Britney Spears: #627 Nothing really setting the chart alight aside from SuBo!
November 17, 200915 yr Author Who is Chris Moyles? I'm not surprised Susan is doing well, I expect her to hit #1 eventually. I agree, those are decent numbers for no promotion. I really wish they would promote. It's a shame that they don't. I mean, move the CDs up front, get the posters out, the stands, a few TV appearances, something. Of course, I will be doing my own promoting again. :kink: ;)
November 18, 200915 yr Chris Moyles is this hideous radio presenter - he's releasing a parody album so it'll obviously be complete and utter w***. And yes get the old promotion going Gloria.
